Here's my review of the original game that I wrote a couple of weeks ago:
Base game review:
Little Nightmares excells in creating a strong atmosphere with an interesting world and mysterious (albeit simple) story, while in terms of gameplay, it blends light platforming, exploration and puzzle elements together pretty well to create a unique and memorable side-scroller experience.
I wouldn't say it's on the same level as Limbo, Inside, or DARQ, because it simply doesn't have the level of polish, pacing, variety and depth as those games, but it still worth playing through. I would give it a solid 8.0 out of 10. Also, if you want to know, the base game takes roughly 4-5 hours to complete 100%.
Expansion review:
The expansion of the game is called Secrets of the Maw and it contains three seperate chapters/DLC. This could very well be its own game given how much content it has - it actually takes slightly longer to complete than the base game. It's basically a second story/campaign and is far superior than the base game. In fact, it's one of the best expansions I've ever played.
It introduces multiple new and interesting gameplay concepts in each chapter that fundemantally change how the game plays, it has way more clever puzzles that require more thinking, it completely opens up the areas and makes them explorable in a Metroidvania-like way (or at least the second and third chapter), it has a way higher level of tension and better atmosphere, it has a more effective story, it's practically better in every way imaginable for an expansion.
The only reason why I won't give it the maximum rating is because it has some minor problems, but it still deserves a 9.5 out of 10. Also, it more than doubles the game's length (it takes 5-6 hours to complete).
Complete Edition review:
I can easily recommend Little Nightmares: Complete Edition. I think the expansions are essential and while the base game is good too, the expansion takes it to a whole another level. I would give the full package an 8.75 out of 10 (average of the base game and the expansion rating). If you want to go for 100%, it will probably take around 10-11 hours.
The puzzle seem more difficult and confusing than original game
