After you and Six pick up the key in the hunter's attic, the nome appears when you want to head back and after following him around etc., you'll get the nome hat, then return to Six and continue on with the story.
If you can get it for a cheaper price at a sale (or through a legal key site), go for it, but I would not pay for it full price, as it is really way too short for 10 bucks (doesn't matter if Euro or Dollar).
Granted, you also get the Soundtrack. Artwork and so on, but gameplay-wise it is really lackluster!
