GTR Evo, STCC and Race On menu skins don't appear anymore

I do apologise beforehand if I’ve made a stupid error which has caused the problem in question, but I hope this can be resolved either way. I haven’t been on Race 07 for a few years but decided I couldn’t hold the urge to crash and bash some touring cars and so recently reinstalled it with all its add-ons. The first thing I noticed was upon opening the game through GTR Evolution (for GTR 2 nostalgia) none of the GTR specific instances happened. The intro was Race 07’s and so was the menu skin and there was no music. The music has been covered before on multiple forums I believe, I haven’t tried either way yet because it doesn’t bother me as much but the fact that the menu skin doesn’t change does bother me.

None of the specific menu skins come up for me in either Race On or the others too but the one I really want is GTR Evolution’s. If anyone has had this problem or has a solution or even some kind of hint I’d like to hear about it. I know where the Race 07 folders are, I’ve modded it before and I can use common sense to find, for instance, the rev counter graphic would be in the UI folder but that’s as far as my knowledge goes and that’s why I need help. So, if anyone has anything on getting GTR Evolution to open with the right skin that would be excellent. I assume PC specs won’t be needed to find a solution but this is the first time I’ve played this game on Windows 10 if that affects anything.

As far as I know, the game Race07 is actually the base game and all the add-ons including Gtr Evo forms part there-of, that's why all skins for all the packs can be installed under your documents\simbin\race07\custom skins folder and will show up when you start the game namely Race07. I never play any of the other games that forms part of the simbin bundle as all the cars,tracks and extra's are already included in the base game Race07. However, you should still be able to iopen GTR Evo on it's own with all the mods present. Hope this answers your question/s. Unfortunately, it doesn’t answer my queries. GTR and the other two, although technically a DLC now, still opens like a different game that uses Race 07 as a base. This isn’t about modding and as far as I’m aware the custom skins folder is only for cars not UI. My mods work fine and have no effect on anything that needs resolving. The issue put simple is when I open GTR Evolution, regardless that it uses Race 07, should say GTR Evolution and be coloured red and silver but it opens with Race 07 on the screen and is coloured blue and white, exactly like it would be if I opened the game using Race 07’s executable. All I want is my menu back.

Seems like my gtrevo is doing the sane thing. Starting up with race07. I couldn't even find the name in the steam common folder else I would have tried to start it with the gtrevo exe. Steam must have changed this somehow. Sorry

When you open the steamlibrary to start a game, make sure you highlight GTR EVO, if not it starts with the original race 07 colors. (Same goes for Race ON).
I think that is it (if you dont have mods as that can mess up).

If you already do that, my suggestion is to:

Rightclick GTR EVO/properties/local gamefiles
Now you have 2 options.
1: Verify gamefiles or 2: Uninstall gamefiles.
If you "uninstall" all you have to do is to open same thingy and install (its already on steamservers). So you wont lose anything, except mods.

hmm, i just changed to windows7 as it is the laptop i use for the moment my pc died.
Havent thought about it but i started thru STCC the game (bought it in shop with the 'Mustasch' intro and bonustracks. It used to bang on that music and the very nice yellow'ish intro runs (just like the red for GTR Evo).
Maybe its above XP the introskins dissapear?
But if you are knowledged in pc's you may be intrested in "buildID's" for each add-on.
I know i was possible to inject that under XP ...but wasnt that only 4 numbers for each add-on (like 8612). But if you understand what i mean and know things i post the id's:

So as of this moment, still no improvement has been made to the situation, just to keep this thread going. It's not windows thats affecting this, it seems to not be my PC as others have had this issue and hardly anyone is playing this game anymore to come help with this.

Rather late, but found a way to change the menu skin. In My Documents-> SimBin-> RACE 07, open the config.ini file with a text editor. The line 'MENUSKIN=' has no value. Change it to STCC for the STCC expansion, GTREVO for GTR Evolution, or MOSQUITO for Race Injection. I don't have the other packs installed, but it would probably work similarly for them.

Absolutely Fantastic. You're a damn pro. This is exactly what i was looking for. It's a little silly that this has to be done manually now but hey ho, it's done now. Thanks man
