Using the Thrustmaster T80

Decided to try this ame with a steering wheel fo the first time, so I picked up the T80. When I try to play the game with it, my gas and brakes are "all or nothing", as it will not let me gradually apply the gas.

How can this be fixed?

Sounds like your pedals are being detected as a button, rather than something with an axis. I've got the same ones and never had such a problem. These pedals are common on most Thrustmaster wheels, so you can try checking out the problem not only on the T80. Also you could take a look at the drivers, which tell you all sorts of stuff on both the axis of the wheel and the pedals.

Thank you for the link! Despite trying the fixes suggessted, my throttle is still skyrocketing with the slightest push against it. Though the game is playable like this, I'm sure I'm getting an altered experience as a result. The flows.

This is my first racing/driving sim (closest thing I've played seriously was Initial D) and I'm still really interested in picking up on it, so I'll enjoy the game like this until I feel ready to invest in a more advanced racing wheel. I really want to see what It's like to have a stickshift and pedals with a clutch.

Thats a shame as it would affect your lap times quite a bit :( Hopefully someone else with a TM wheel can come along and help you out. Simracing is really quite fun once you get the hang of it.

These are propably stupid suggestions but, have you changed the wheel from ps4 mode to pc (if it even has one of those switches?) And have you configured a custom profile for the wheel in-game? I think there is a chance it can be detected by default as '3 in 1 rumble' which is an older version of the wheel and the controls are remaped. You most likely have done both of these and judging by how this is a universal problem (not game specific) I doubt I can be of help.

I have, playing with those settings unfortunately do not remedy the problem. I have also created a profile in game but the issue persists. The funny thing is that in the Windows config, the pedals behave as if they are axes but simply not in-game. It registers as a T80 wheel in game, but no cigar with the pedals.

Thankfully games like Dirt Rally are not really hindered by this (as far as I can tell), but in a game such as RACE I'm sure its adversely affecting my performance.

I'm just going to deal with it until I am able to invest in a new set of pedals. Hopefully that solves the problem without having to buy a whole new wheel. I am -very- determined to enjoy this game as it should.

try get the calibration correct in windows (ye its a bit wierd, i didnt get the exact wishes but it works).
Most suggstions above is not stupid 5enn.
I have quite steep throttle too but i learnt the feel... its not all on/off but not as smooth as real cars... in options if i press throttle the bar is very itchy andmore or less 3 steps as i try make a "zero to full"-press.

try thewindowsthingy again is my suggestion and/or make a "new" profile in the gameoptions controlmapping and set your own wishes, no presetlist.

One last thing (it might have been mentioned in the comments of the video up top). When selecting the pedals in the custom profile, have them pressed slightly before you click to select a control button.

Hope this makes sense, im not great at explaining things. This 'fix' was mentioned on a few websites and seemed to work for a lot of people. Just try to have them slightly pressed before clicking to assign them.

Oh well, can't return it now, I'll just use this wheel until I can afford a setup with a clutch/stick shift and pedals that actually operate on axes in-game.

somewhere there is a X/Z setting (in windows or your wheels software), whatever it says put it in the other setting.
Or if you can see something like "Dual/Single"-axis, change it to the other.

Last, make a "New profile" in keysetting in the games Controllersettings:
Just click NEW, SET & Confirm what you like and name it "WTF" or anything.
It should overtake the "Preset" selected ones.

Hello, I am Having a similar problem,
I was able to connect everything properly and my pedals show responsive when ever i check. wheel is set to ps4 and according to the control panel for the wheel everything seems to work just fine but when ever i jump into a game nothing seems to work, please help

Hmm, in buttonmapping there are "3 pages".
The first is mapping (have you checked prefered settings there?
If yes, then on page 2: Do you see the bars moving?
If yes, whats not working ingame?

Just atm ill would you too make a "NEW PROFILE" (not use the preset PS4) and set your prefered settings (far from all need to be set, just the main ones you find ordinary and needed).
then save it and use it and try.

OR it can be so simple that if you log in to a server for the first time that evening, then my own controls sometimes need to be "confirmed" again in ingame options/Controller setting/press your setting and go to page 2 to see it work.

thanks for your response, I got it working. i guess it was my pc not reading the steering wheel that day, somehow it worked next time i tried, probably just had to restart the pc, but thatnks for your help
