Traditional Survival Mode?
I played this at launch and was not a big fan of the game mode i was presented with. Can't remember what it was called but we had to defend a village and it was very time sensative forcing me to stay online to stick with the group i started the game with or fall behind.

Fast forward to today and i see updates about survival and base building. Is there now a fully functioning survival game mode similar to how survival works in games like valheim?

I like to see the following in survival games, does this game now offer it?

- Gather resources
- Set up a home plot and build a base
- Build crafting stations to advance build options
- Farm food for buffs of some kind
- Roam and find mobs to kill
- Bosses in the world would be a nice touch
- Random generated worlds so different each time would be nice
- Mobs that attack your base would be nice, one of the things that attracted me to this game at launch was the nightly attacks but the game mode format at launch wasn't quite for me

Any other great stuff that comes with typical survival mode games? Does this game now have it?

Yes they introduced Survival (story) mode very quick after the release of the game so it is there for some time already. In this mode it is very close to normal survival without the time pressure of having to return most nights to defend a predefined settlement.

In this mode you get even the full capacity to build a base everywhere you want. It won't get attacked at night and the Jotuns don't roam around, though they are still there for you to defeat. And you don't have to protect the tree either.

Both modes do have random generated maps, though some of the starter tiles are set in stone like the tree, altar and first fast travel portal.
