All worlds are destroyed?
Seriously? All the stuff I built in Survival will be destroyed? Can't be real?

What sense does it make to extend building options (promised for the next update), when all your work will be wiped out regularly on their updates? If that's the case they've lost me as a player and I'm sure this would prevent many people from buying and spending their time into a world. Plain ridiculous and a real shame, bc the gfx, combat and world design is really neat.

I am pretty sure it's all about compatibility with new changes and not every update but on season change..

The same happens with other similar games, like Valheim. After some specific updates that had some heavy changes and addition, they specifically said that you have to start a new world as the new things wasn't compatible with old worlds.

I don't find that really strange in games like this.

The other answer in this thread said it's seasonal, I referred to that information.

Valheim is Early Access, so oc it would be acceptable when they reset or delete worlds. This game is not.

It's easier for the devs for sure. It's surely not respecting the player's time.

I just read this at the bottom of my screen, all worlds destroyed in 11 days. WTF? I had no idea. Kinda like Rust where everything is destroyed all the time? Doesn't make sense to me. In a pvp game, yes, makes sense. In this game? What the firetruck is the reason for this ♥♥♥♥?

jep I stopped playing bc of this crap. regret buying. absolutely nonsense.

I will play more but this close to the end of the season it feels like there's not much point. I don't have time to play every day so I don't want to spend my effort just to start over and maybe get burnt out. I would like to play at my leisure not on someone else's schedule.
Gamer Mar 31, 2023 @ 3:01pm
yeah well, you know games like Rust and other pvp games, games on servers with many people and limited space, there are many reasons to reset the server/wipe the game and start fresh. But like 7 Days to Die with it's seemingly endless updates and wipes, many people choose to continue to play using an older version of the game. The devs don't force anyone to wipe their games. I'm still unclear here on the process. So my saved games will be wiped at the end of the season? I don't like that at all, if that's the case. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I wish I'd been warned about this BS before I bought the game. I do like the game a lot, but this is a "game breaking" issue for me. You shall forever lose me as a customer if you wipe my save games. Us gamers should in my opinion have a few meager rights to the content we create using your software, but I know, I know, no one cares and this crap is just accepted by the masses.

I feel like a fanboy defending this game sometimes, but some of these complaints I don't get. Does a world wipe really matter? Maybe if you are rushing the 100 day challenge in the last few days before, but I mean I thought the build limit stopped people building big bases or villages, so a world wipe you wouldn't be losing much anyway? All of your progress/unlocks are kept.

I don't really play survival though, 99% saga so used to restarting.

Well I guess that shows how pointless what you just said is, as you stated you "really" don't play survival though. So of course you don't understand.

Imagine the developer of a drawing pad app regularly clears all the 5 scribbles (the number of drawings is already limited). People are complaining because they want to keep their stuff and can't stand a dev deleting all of their drawing playgrounds.

So now you jump in and say "in a past update the dev limited the number of colors you can use in a single painting. so why are you complaining, you wouldn't be losing much anyway"

I like what you said there. About 20 bloody years ago there was a huge move in the gaming community to push for legislation that would give gamers some rights to the intellectual product we created using these companies software that we purchased. In the courts it fell flat on it's face. It's a shame. I personally believe if we create something in a game we should be able to keep that if we want. So like in many games, 7 Days to die, Conan Exiles etc, I can keep my old worlds and play using the OLD VERSIONS of the software if I so choose. I have some 7 Days worlds that are very old that I kept after putting 1000 hours, literally, into the creation of tons of stuff.

But this game, apparently, just wipes everything like Rust does. Now in Rust and other small world PVP games, it makes sense that they wipe. Empyrion "scenarios" online also wipe, makes sense. But this game wiping every 3 months? What am I missing?

I think it's just lazy devs, they don't want to test/balance their changes against existing worlds. Would be ok if there was a big warning before buying. But by promoting the Survival mode like they do on the store page

Survival Mode: This mode lets you take your adventure to the far reaches of Midgard at your own pace. Explore, craft, and build your perfect Viking home anywhere you see fit through your mighty Allforge. Choose among 90 skills as you level up and fight your way up the Jötunn food chain until you can face off against the all-powerful Ancients and discover what awaits you at the end of your epic Saga.

I feel fooled, bc I fell for it.

Well, well adventurer, discover what awaits you at the end of your epic Saga: we delete it. Have fun.

All they'd have to do is give people the option to update and the option to use older version of the software. Maybe they do that, I don't know
