Is there a way to end the long winter nights? or is that just "end game"
I was wondering, got to day 17 solo but I just could not leave my village behind for more than a few minutes, I ended up running out of souls, unable to repair anything and my tree got killed :( wondering if I just need to prepare better or if there's something I'm supposed to do to end the permanent night?

Yeah I just got in the same situation. I made it to day 15 where the waves of enemies endlessly spawn. I'm assuming to goal is to speed run to get the most OP as quick as possible since the only "end" in the SAGA mode is to kill the seasonal boss.

If you let the endless winter overtake you then there is no coming back. At least that's the way I see it.

If it was possible to get permanent upgrades (similar to other rouge-like) after each run to make getting to the end boss more possible it would make a lot more since, but atm it looks like the SAGA mode was only designed to to completed in co-op.

You have permanent upgrades - starter kits. Villager pack removes the need to craft first tier armor and weapon.

That's kind of true but still it just saves you maybe 10-15min of farming materials at the start. In the overall scheme of things it really doesn't help to much imo.

I don;t think people get the scope of the co-op in this game yet, if you have the start set for combat you can rush and get loads of leather for the rest of the team to boost them up too. and hopefully someone else will be getting resources for other upgrades

Unfortunately I have no idea how to optimize in co-op play since I have only played solo.

was mainly wondering because there's an achievement for surviving 100 days which I want to get to, and I can imagine that just spending 85 days in nighttime with constant attacks can get a little boring without any extra events to bring some variety. Also if it's just to fight fenrir every time and survive until permanent night to bifrost out, that's not too amazing replayability, or that's what I'm afraid of at least.

The Fenrir winter doesn´t arrive at day 15 in survival mode apparently. So you should try to get to 100 in Survival not in SAGA mode

ahhh I thought it was a saga mode achievement haha, didn't look at it properly

I went up to day 22 or something with a friend in Survival mode and even though the winter did start after the first week it ended up circling back to summer. No idea if it's a bug, a feature of the survival mode just how the mechanic works as a whole but we're now back to very short night and longer (and warmer) days.

So keep hanging in there and... Fingers crossed ?

Did you have maxed out armor with cold protection? Legendary armor? Cold resistance potions? Not trying to insult anyone's intelligence. Just making sure everyone knows as you increase armor rarity from blue --> purple --> yellow. Your resistance to heat and cold also increases. And some armor has more heat than cold resistance and vice versa.

To be fair thats barely a advantage in my opinion
i usualy start with the tools just so i can start farming right away and make myself some weapon once i go to camp to upgrade my tool since thats atleast reliable half a minute to a minute of advantage
dont realy need it before that since even if you run into wolfs or bandits they can be killed unarmed and anyway have to go there to upgrade the tools

Seeing how i rolled with the bow the last 2 games that pack would save maybe a minute but probably less Assuming i actualy run into a short supplie of leather (and that hasnt happened to me yet even with running past bandits somewhat commonly) and witout running out it basicaly has no effect besides saving the couple seconds spent on clicking craft for these items once
Unless of course you happen to right after spawning see a higher level mob whose drops you need but have never had a higher level area be right adjacent to the spawn

I think armor and sword beats instruments in efficiency. Don't forget that crafting each piece takes time and that beating barricades with bare hands is slow.

Little tip: if you do your sword AOE it will harvest any materials around you. You begin with charges so you can immediately collect stone, iron, and wood while also having a full combat kit.

True i actualy forgot about that (realised it in the tutorial but never realy used it)
so yhea then villager set might be better
And yhea every crafting piece takes time but thats realy limitet (like 3 seconds or so per craft i would say?)
As for barricades i usualy dont run far eneught to have to pass one before i already have the souls to go for t2 tools and anyway return
