Half the time the weapon is a quest reward at blue tier already for completing a hideout(which you need to do anyway), the other half I run through the desert, find desert Fafnir, and just spend x amount of souls to purchase the few parts Im missing. Takes me virtually no extra time to make, and I easily put out some of the highest damage in the match, which in turn, saves a ton of time on progression.
Fenrir isn't immune to all ele damage, he's only resistant to lightning(and possibly dark? haven't tested as I find dark is rather pointless as well) Otherwise, he takes normal damage from the elements(meaning there is no up/down arrow, he's not vulnerable/resistant).
edit: typo
I think it would be nice if there were a little more weapon variety. I love fire swords in general but I never really need to build one because by the time I can, I can just build one of the other legendary weapons instead.
I'd like to see this get tweaked a bit. Make the other dmg types actually worth getting... or easier to get.
Usually i just get a thunder axe II then the highest dmg weapon i can get for Fen and that's about all you need.
Same with the Rune system, feels to random. Sometimes i have good ones, other times i have next to nothing. But that's another thread i guess.
Honestly though both these weapons would be more powerful if they both did thunder damage. If there was a thunder weapon that scaled well with runes it would be the only weapon anyone used because the two criteria for weapons are;
A. Does it do thunder damage?
B. Do the abilities scale well with runes?
Honestly the way the numbers work in this game mystifies me. Even without any bonus damage traits the damage you do seems way off from what is listed. A lower number i'd chalk up to a partial resist, or mitigation, but a weapon can say 150 damage, but hit for 500. I'd say it was a crit, but it will do it on every swing.
