Harvesting problems
Hey!

Anyone has any idea why my villagers does not plant or harvest straws?
I have set it to priority, but they just going on with other non important task, which cause to lose the livestock. I tried to close them in until they do it, but didn't help. I also have harvesting tools as well.

How far are your farms from houses? Which crop are you planting for straw?

I'm growing barley and the field is next to the houses.

I have my harvesting tools set to 50% of pop and that seems to work fine with a large field of each crop(once i have 100 people that is).

Make sure you have enough villagers to cover all your tasks.

If you look at the activities tab in the manage section, you should ideally have unproductive people to ensure you have sufficient pop for all jobs.

I have sickles set to 150%, though my population is 36 at the moment.

Personally I set all fields to high priority and keep harvesting tools at 50% of pop initially and later even higher if I notice fields are being missed at harvest. Prioritizing the grain fields the only way to ensure you get all or most of the grain and straw.

Yeah, my problem is that I prioritized the fields and yet the villagers went to pick up sticks and such, and no matter if I cancelled in the task manager to not do it, they found other non-important tasks to do.

Dafuk, what a waste of resources. You really don't need more than 50%
If you're having trouble getting the harvest in with it set to 50% then you have too many fields or too far away from your village/granaries/haystacks.

This is the part that I don't understand about the AI - prioritize means focus on specified task, rather than picking up sticks or other less-time-sensitive job.

There is no AI priorities settings; it has no effect; it's just a placebo to make you think you can prioritize.

You can check if priority work or not.

Prioritized task should be on the top of the task list. However, prioritized does not always mean the task will get dome immediately. That's not how it work.
