People is not wearing clothes, even when there is a lot available.

Yes the HUD shows the total amount of outfits, both the storaged ones and the ones on your people. Look at your population and try to have the same number of each kind of outfits to everyone be dressed, otherwise the ones that don't have winter outfits would dress the summer ones on winter (with less cold protection), but the ones that don't have summer outfits would be naked as they won't use winter ones because temperature is too high

Now that makes sense, by looking at this picture, would you say I have less clothing that people?

Yes, it seems that you have 20 skins outfits for 23 people and no light clothing at all

There are winter/summer types, you need both. Or would you go out in summer wearing your -20 c outfit?

I know, im talking during winter though. The game warns me about people having no clothing for winter or low temps, I got plenty in stock, but they won't go and wear them.

I've also noticed occasional decreases in my clothing stockpiles. Is that a bug, or are clothes supposed to decay in this game?

I can tell they eventually -possibly- decay while people wears them, but my issues comes with people not even going to the stockpile and picking clothes to avoid cold.

They won't just wear them when low temps and stockpiled.

Yes, almost every resource has a decay time, you can see each one on the help (F1), I think clothing lasts about 5 years

If they're not using clothing at all probably you don't have summer clothing and if the temperature is too high they will storage their winter clothes, do you have leather or linen outfits?

I do have the cold clothes and the light cloths. Both stocked, plenty. What happens is that people is not picking them or wearing them.

I haven't found any way to force a villager to change their clothes, but you can make them equip clothing if they're naked. However, if the AI deems them unsuitable, they'll immediately find a tent and stow them.

Click on the item icon within the storage building's info frame to make the building "drop" the item. Then select the villager and right-click on the dropped clothing. (This also works for weapons and tools.)

I had thought that the # of sets of clothing showing in your village includes what is being worn, which is why it tells you to have at least one set per villager. Is that not the case? If it is, then you need to have at least as many sets of summer & winter clothing as you have villagers.

There are only 4 different types of clothing. Each has its own limit -- 100% of population by default.

Yes, I know. Wool and Skins are winter clothing, and Leather and Linen are summer clothing. If you had 60 villagers, you should theoretically be covered having 30 of all 4 types, or any combination that adds up to 60 summer and 60 winter.

But if you had 150 skins and 20 leather, you'd have 40 people without summer clothing - that's what I'm trying to say. 60 skins and 60 leather, you're good. 60 wool and 60 linen, also good. 40 skin, 20 wool, 30 leather, 30 linen, still good.

OP just says there are "a lot available." I think - though I could be wrong and please correct me if I am - that the amount showing in the top left are not how many are available to take, but also include what's already being worn?

Lies, the clothes and weapons it says you have stored on the HUD are actually on your people. Solution, make more. Either that or you have no summer clothes etc
Nova Nocturne Mar 3, 2019 @ 4:13pm
My HUD lists over 180 clothing of each type (warm and cold), and my people (under 100) just wander away from settlement naked then die from hypothermia or whatever.....
