Villagers ignoring the tannery?
I now have several dozens of raw skins, as well as a lot of tannin. I have 5 tanneries all set to high priority, and don't have anything else set to high priority.

And yet only occasionally someone stops by to make leather. Hardly are ever two tanneries occupied.

I have basically already lost the game because of this, as without leather I can't replace the broken sledges. Without sledges, villagers spend a lot more time bringing wood, ores, and meat from hunted animals. And then they're unhappy and spend time with religion. And so with each broken sledge, there's less time left to seed grains every year...

Maybe you have set a low limit for the leather? when you specify a limit for a resource they stop producing/harvesting that resource when the limit is reached

Other reasons could be that maybe the workload on your village is too high, you can track it on the tasks panel (7), if it is over 150% maybe you have assigned too tasks to your people and should consider to reduce the workload to they be able to perform the tasks in a more efficient way.

You also can set the tanner to high priority to your people prioritize that task, or if it is extremely urgent or you want to make micromanage send a guy to work on tanner by right clicking on the tanner

I can confirm that the same thing is happening to me. Villagers ignore tanneries even with low workload and idle villagers. The tanneries flash red when I try to manually assign them the task, they will bring the tannin reagent over and place it in the tannery, but never bring the dried skin.

Confirmed. With only 10 villagers, two tanneries set to high and 4 leathers queued, no one uses it. I have like 20 skins ready, even leather clothes queued to use the finished leather. Nothing else is queued. They're all just wandering and idle when the only tasks requested is leather and leather products.

A, skin need to be raw, B, they're probably all busy with other tasks.

The problem is that the prioritization mechanic isn't really that well conceived. So whatever job they happen to pick is what will be done, and if that means drying 3 skins in a row despite the tanner being marked priority, that's what they do. I'm not sure what marking something as a priority even does. With no means to actually set a task as a priority sometimes things just don't get done at all. For instance, there is exactly zero way to get villagers to harvest mud, period. Even setting down chain priority (crafting something that demands leather for instance) doesn't seem to have an effect on it. I'd love a true prioritization of tasks system.

Have same problem to, its a late game breaking bug and happen I think when advance to copper or bronze age.

I fixed this once because the tanneries were too close to each other, but it has happened more than once under different circumstances. So far the tannery is the only culprit.

This is definitely a bug which needs fixing. You can't right click tannery. Villagers ignore tannery no matter what. They only put the Raw Skins in, they don't work them.

Even with having literally no leather and over 20+ raw skins they are ignoring the tannery as well as other jobs and I have ALL of my stuff set to 150% of population.

same issue with the drying racks. Fish and meat are put out to dry but are never collected though tasks are light and workers are available. Also plenty of space in storage tents.

Try to ring the raider alert bell for a while and then turn it off. As i remember it should force reset the task assignment to people.

Nothing helps, I went back to a save in Copper Age and everything is fine, when advance to Bronze it go's wrong.

Seems like nothing solves this problem and renders the game unfinishable around metal age. It was fun until that point though.
