This way you can hit the horn-button if raiders attack. People who can fight will get their weapons, man the towers - the rest will gather at the gate to fight the enemy. Everyone else will hide inside the houses - even animals move to the stables.
It makes the whole fighting so much easier :)

I chose it because of the river on two of 4 sides. It's an easier deal with raiders, when they come from these directions and yes - there's plenty of space to expand even though I had to clear a couple of stone piles even before I actually needed stone, because they were in the way and I would have lost quite some space if I would have built around them.
my first play so far. Still learning. Got into huge straw shortage around 100 pop, then I set the animal limits and apart from that it was smooth play. Next time I will be smarter.
