The Stone Age... but no stone?
I think that this game's largest irony is that, while you start in "The Stone Age", your people don't build anything out of stone. The Stone Age was so called because people built fortifications, walls, and buildings out of stone.

Sure, they use stone (flint) for weapons and tools, but that's it.

I guess, letting the people in the game build building and walls out of stone would be game-killing as it would form quite an effective barrier or something. But still, its just weird that you can't do more with stone in The Stone Age.

I don't say the name should be changed... If anything, the game should be changed to meet the name.

But as I said, letting the ppl build in stone would probably not work for game balance and end up making the early game look like the Flintsones.

technically that was exactly why it was called stone age, not the buildings. ;)

Yes if you had stone structures off the bat, would be too easy. You pretty much answered your own question on this thread. So I’m not seeing a point of your failing to offer a solution to your problem.

Also stone tools are being used in this age, hence the Stone Age name

It's known as that because that is primarily the type of tools they used. Like the bronze age is known as that because they used bronze tools, and in the iron age they used iron tools, and so on. It has nothing to do with the architecture.

Stone age is very very long. You can't resume it in a game era, so dev made choices.

With all due respect, but it was - and is - called the Stone age because at the time the people were using stone TOOLS and weapon parts.

The ability to build things with stone came later, after humans managed to use metal tools to work with stone.

So the set-up of the game is exactly how things went.

Except for Stonehenge.

The Stone Age is split up into 3 eras. The Paleolithic, the Mesolithic, and the Neolithic. Lithic comes from greek 'lithos' meaning stone. Paleo=old, meso=middle, and Neo=new. The game starts in the Paleolithic era. Flint, a type of stone, was overwhelmingly used in the Paleolithic era. Stone being used for massive construction projects only really began around the Neolithic era, exactly the point in the game when one can build it. This is also the era you start in.
Regarding wall construction, walls are typically made out of materials which are found in abundance in an area. In Mesopotamia and Egypt, stone was primarily used. In Western Europe, wood was primarily used. Considering that the game currently features climates more similar to Western and Northern Europe than the Middle East, it really isn't much of an issue having it placed back in the Bronze Age. It might be a good idea to have mud-bricks be a material one can build with between stone and wood perhaps placed in the Copper Age.

humans started to use stone as a building material only in the very end of the stone age. there are a couple of known stone buildings namely gobekli tepe temple, tell quaramel tower, jericho walls/tower and some homes in different sites. before then people used to roam vast areas collecting food, building anything besides a tent of a hide on two sticks would be uneconomical.
