Blacksmiths and Bloomeries: cant smelt Copper / Tin?
Was taken by surprise to find my smelting operations could no longer handle Copper or Tin once I upgraded them to the Iron tier. Is that a bug because it makes no sense?

I believe the big smelters can only smelt iron and steel. You need to stick with the small ones for the "old" metals. Doesn't make sense but I usually abandon copper all together once I made it to iron.

The problem is the small ones upgrade into the big ones. Not much of an upgrade when most of your inventory is Copper and Tin. Basically you get new tech, you see you can upgrade your Pit Furnaces and Weaponsmiths, so you do, of course, and suddenly you cannot smelt or craft with any of the early game metals!

First time I've seen an upgrade that removes capabilities from the "lesser" building. At the time I upgraded, I had 1 Iron Ore and 80+ Copper / Tin.

I totally agree but as they only take - what, two leather and four clay or something? I just build a fancy smelter next to the small one, then recycle the small one when all my copper is gone.
