Remastering: Children of the Nile
Dear all,

What about a mod or developpers expansion taking as inspiration the mythical Children of the Nile?
Dawn of Man has all the pieces to remaster such a great game focused on the egiptian times. Maybe first of all focusing on the pre-dynastic Egipt.

When I first started this game I also thought about how amazing it would be if there would be, besides a continental and northern starting option, a more middle eastern location to start with. In this region agriculture started much earlier so maybe start with a few crops already researched, however there are little trees and more problems with water instead of hypothermia. So I totally agree with you, an amazing addition to the game would be a more southern Mesopotamic/Egyptian starting location with its own challenges.

Actually this is pretty cool. Imagine if they made different regions as DLCs.

The possibility places to explore like Vikings in the North, Egypt, Romans, the Chinese Empire and so on.

Great idea but the mechanics are very different. Dawn of Man is managing a small tribe with few people. It's like a big family and each character is somehow important. Children of the Nile deals with a city and lots of people living in it where the individual person is not as important.

Also Children of the Nile would need a number of trade routes and a world map in order to be a great game. While modding gives you lots of opportunities I thing creating a world map with trade and warfare is too big to be done in a mod.

I have however two titles on my wishlist "Akhenaten: Rule as Pharaoh" and "Builders of Egypt", the might be worthy successors. I hope they get released soon.

Yes, you are right, thats why I mention a predynastic mod/expansion. It would be just a Neolithic version focus on Nile dynamics. Something could be achieved on that way.

I like this idea as well. We'd need to get some new animal models as well, Hippo, Elephant, Crocodile

I'm not familiar with Children of the Nile, but I would definitely support if the game had some desert locations too. Both Egypt and the Fertile Crescent would be cool, especially since the earliest farming did start in those areas.

Hi, The most difficult task would be to implement the Flooding of the Nile dynamics and therefore the terrain fertility, which is not implemented in this game. But floodings events as disasters and fertility rates can be also implemented by the devs to the main game (I dont know if it would be possible to mod such stuff by the users).
