Is there an ending to the game?

I'm in the final age, everything is upgraded as far as i can go, I have 147 population and raiders are crushed every time they attack, at most I lose 1 or 2 people, but still the game keeps going, is there an end or does it just keep going?

Nope. Once you have the milestones and possibly any achievements, you just quit when ready. It doesn't naturally end.

Yeah it's pretty sandbox in that sense. You have to set your own limit. This can be a bit of a denouement for people (including myself) since you might invest hours into building your little town and then it's like....well okay. Go do this again or....play another game or....do actual work...

That's really wierd , the only milestone I have left is to make stonehenge, may as well do that then save the game and build on a different start spot

Some of the suggestions have been to add more progression achievements; I posted a suggestion that reaching certain prestige levels unlocks a unique building at each era. If set high enough this could, in principle anyway, create something of a conclusion to the game once you build the Iron-age era, 1000 prestige requiring whatever-it-is. Others have made similar suggestions and the roadmap does include new buildings, techs, and items according to the Devs.

I just wonder if you can lose in dawn of man. I mean it is considered a survival game.

If you can’t automate the game and you leave it running you can lose.
You can’t automate the raids and traders.

You need to sound the alarm during raids. Mines can be destroyed so production of metals can be effected.

Yes it is possible.

I wasn't paying attention to messages and didn't know most of my people got wiped out. This was at the very beginning of a new game and my attention was elsewhere, like finding meat close to my area or looking to see where cave hyenas and cave lions were. The village hadn't made any basic flint knives and only had the bare necessities of a beginning tribe, like one crude spear or 2. They hadn't even got out of the first Lithic era. It's possible that wolves invaded and I didn't rally my people and they simply were outstandingly weak. I witnessed the sole survivor then die from a wolf, I was so pissed. I didn't even know he was all I had; when I had looked at him mere moments before he died, I was wondering why my village looked deserted and the lone bot was all by his lonesome.

So yeah if you're not overlord-in-the-sky, it's possible for starvation, animal attacks, or just freezing to death can wipe you out.
