How do you deal with diseased crops?
I have just experienced my first crop disease. Seven of my lentils were effected and were not harvested during harvest season (obviously because they were diseased). My villagers did nothing about it so I deleted the affected crops myself but now I can't seem to replant more lentils, or any other crops in the spaces the diseased ones were in. Was I supposed to wait a little longer for my villagers to do it themselves? OR do I have to wait for the 'diseased' ground to 'heal' itself?

You can't put a field right next to another field. There has to be space in between. So if you delete a tile of that field, you cannot replace it as you're actually placing a new field too close. The diseased crops will clear automatically. If you deleted the tile, you need to delete the entire field and replace it. Fields are limited to a 5x5 range and cannot be placed next to one another, even if it is the same crop. So its just a side effect of that limitation.

so far it seems that diseased crops are handled basically lick sick livestock, you wait until it passes. I don't think it affects more than a single harvest.

Ah right okay. I'll be more patient next time! Don't know why it won't let me replant on the same spot though. Maybe I have to wait a whole year?

My experience so far has been, if you click on the crop and delete the plants only, the villagers will replant the plot at the appropriate time. But if you click on the spot and it deletes the planting spot, for some reason you wind up with a blank spot that you cannot replant with any crop again, you can build things on it but you cannot ever replant it. Don't know if this is a bug, intended, or something maybe got overlooked in coding the game!

If you just leave the sick crop standing the villagers never do anything about that spot ever as far as I have seen. It just sits there with its sick plants forever after near as I can tell.

Just wait. The next planting season they replace it with new seed.

Just deleted the whole lentil farm and yep, it did let me replant the whole field again. Thanks mate! :)

would be useful if there was an easier way to select them all (only the diseased ones) and mass delete. or maybe some visual effect to find them.

I had to wait til the colors on them changed to figure it out. or manually clicking on each one by one.

Not really. There is no benefit to deleting the diseased ones and deleting them requires you to delete the entire field if you want to replace the gaps you made doing so. Having the ability to group select only the diseased ones wouldn't have a purpose really.

Yea you're right. the fields do create gaps and you can't replace the deleted ones.

Well, that explains a lot, at least I know how to fix my patchwork fields now! LOL
