Camera controls and angles
Since the dev made an update, I can not understand why he still limits the camera by this, it doesnt help the immersion and the controlls itself are very outdated.

Please, take a look at kenshi, the camera controls are exelent, you can control the camera by pressing only one button and you also have an indication on the cameras location and turning points.

So, why is the camera like this, I dont get it. Its not only quality of life here, its immersion, that gets totally destroyed by this simple stuff, no reason to limit the angle, and no reason to have 6(!) button to control the camera.....

You can also use the mouse to rotate, move and zoom the camera. Press and hold the mouse wheel and move the mouse in order to rotate. I don't use the keyboard at all for camera controls.

I agree. I tested the short tested 1.0.4 and gave my feedback. It was apparently ignored and they ended up rushing the test out to release.

The zoom out didnt zoom out much at all. Wasn't noticeable.

The tilt still limited. You can't get an actual top down view at all. Feels like 45 degrees downward instead of a 90 degrees down.

Currently what I'm noticing is the game has a camera that is locked at a fix height above the ground terrain. I noticed this while trying to pan around the map looking for megalith and it bobs up and down whenever you go over the land, it goes higher up when you're at the top of the mountain.

I don't see why they can't just add in a full camera control like most colony sims god game.

Zoom should zoom out and change the height and holding down the mouse should allow full 360 movement of the camera.

This game needs another camera angle quality of life improvement pass. 1.0.4 is not enough.

Having to use Page Up and Page Down to tilt the camera is ridiculous. Can't we simply just hold right-click and move the camera to whatever vertical angle and rotation we want?

They are making it so complicated. Having to reach way over to Page Up/Page Down is uncomfortable and not at all user-friendly.

I don't mind the way the camera originally rotated, but I appreciate the new option. But, wiht a simple hold right-click, we should be able to rotate and tilt the camera to whatever angle we want.

I agree FroBodine. I have suggested this already many times in my review comment and other threads.

HOLD MOUSE DOWN to free form camera control is pretty common and standard for camera controls mechanics.

The current hold mouse only swivel the camera left and right which is just turning. The zoom doesn't zoom out far enough. Hold mouse down up and down direction should change the tilting. but tilt is currently restricted as well.

How do you set the camera to mouse rotation?
RonEmpire Mar 7, 2019 @ 3:53pm
It's built in automatically, there is no setting. HOLD MIDDLE mouse and it moves camera left and right (regardless of the turn or orbit setting). TURN and ORBIT only flips the behavior of Q and E. Which is kind of redundant because you can just change the keybindings for Q and E.

Mouse rotate not working for me. Orbit working fine but still have to use Q&E to rotate.

middle mouse holding down rotates left and right. maybe check your mouse settings/drivers to see if middle mouse can be used.

Map pan and tilt changed in the latest patch. In Chase Cam mode it's worked using the right mouse button since release. The new patch allows the same kind of thing using the hold mouse wheel rather than the right mouse button. Wish they'd standardize on Right mouse button like everyone else.

Pretty sure that they are referring to the "focus camera" which you can select on pretty much any object. Highlight the object and there is a little camera icon in the box that you can select, and there you'll have free camera movement around that object as a focal point.
It's pointless for what we are trying to get, but it proves that the game should be capable of it.

Where is this option for Turn/Orbit?? I can't find the option anywhere and I want to try it out, because yes, the camera staying in a fixes position while rotating is really weird for this kind of game... Orbit SOUNDS like what I'm looking for, but I can't seem to find the setting...
RonEmpire Mar 8, 2019 @ 2:57am
orbit mode is nothing more than holding the middle mouse down and it turns the camera left and right. it's just quick access for Q and E. it works in turn mode as well.

as i said, turn and orbit the functionality of the middle mouse is Q and E. but when you turn on orbit mode, Q and E gets reversed. you can switch the behaviors by remapping the keybinding.

you have to quit out of the game session and go to the main menu to access the settings.

its right below the gameplay area. above controls. its called camera rotation < Turn > or < Orbit >

OH yea- the camera for FOCUS on an object behavior works like how I want the normal game play.

I clicked on the camera icon when clicking on a villager and I can fully control the camera angles top down and everything. The only problem is I was locked on the villager moving around and can't play the game.

But that's how the normal camera should be. Wow. Why don't they just do that instead. Geese.
