The 'mine' action should just be 'make rolling' and be done with it. Then you wouldn't have to find it again at all - you place a structure that demands megaliths, search one up on the map, and start the 'make rolling' task. Your people mine it and move it. The fact that it takes resources to make it roll is, so what, IMHO.
I'll explain: if the player orders a monument to be built and has megaliths ready for transport, the villagers will accomplish this task without worrying about the season.
I cut all megaliths (a relatively quick task, done by a single villager) and, when there is availability of villagers, the season is correct and it is not the raiders time, I prepare and transport one at a time.
I do not want to be forced to carry them as soon as they are cut.
The map is so big and the ores, monoliths, trees are so small that I now think it would be worthless.
What can be done is a system of marks (in the style of Civilizarion VI) and a panel where you can click on the mark and be taken to the place.
I also posted about having full camera control like the Focus Camera icon.
Did that ever get added/fixed? Just play Anno 1800 and thats how the camera control should be.
Looks like the request in your OP is getting some attention from the devs so I guess it was worth it.
Yay. So happy to read this! I hate monolith hunting after I've mined them. So frustrating to scroll and rotate the map every which way trying to locate it.
