People carrying food for long trips
Not sure if this is doable (I just play games, no idea how they actually work), but it would be nice if your citizens could bring food with them when they have to stray far from the village, like when getting them big stones for stone circles. More than once they die of starvation while traversing the map to get them.

A script to bring food if the target is -x- distance away, or if it could be the default for people pulling megaliths, would be great, yeah.

I once had a villager who, after filling his inventory with multiple fruit, headed back home. On the way, he got hungry so he ate one of his fruits, but he was so far away he starved to death before he got home, and didn't think to eat the other fruits. Tragic.

To avoid dehydration, construct wells on the way between the village and the megalith (or, for hunters, in all directions). Then turn off the "collect water here" option (to prevent them from coming from the village to get water in these wells). This is especially indicated when there is a river or lake near the megalith, but in the opposite direction of the village, because it prevents the villagers from going to drink water and ending up very far from the village.

For food, there is an alternative path, at least in the summer and fall: pay attention to the villagers and, if you identify someone who is hungry, have him run to a fruit tree. If there are shrubs, you can click directly on them, but the default option for trees is to cut, not to harvest. Then it is necessary to take the villager up close to them and see if he decides to eat.

This would work best if you could turn off the automatic harvesting of planted trees. In that case, it would be enough to plant them on the way to the megalith.

In winter, and in a desperate situation, it is possible to hunt some animal near the megalith and prevent the hunters (or other villager) from taking the meat to the village. The problem here is being lucky to find an animal at the right time and in the right place.

After you've got sledges and farm animals, you can kill a goat / sheep and command the villager with sledge halfway to the megalith, then delete the sledge. The meat will be in the soil and can be used by the megalith loaders.

All of this, of course, only works with micro-management, which is why I like small villages.

Anyway, the idea of putting a specific slot for food (or a bag, made of leather in the workshop) is very welcome.

Wow, the idea to construct wells all around the maps is really nice, I gotta try it right away. But the idea of having bags or packing up some food before leaving is really necessary, because it sucks having to micromanage these things when we have other things to do...
