I think they will have a ton of work ahead of them in EA. There is just a ton of potential here that could be tapped and right now the gameplay is a little slow.
This was pretty much what they initially planned for Depth to be back in 2012. I've been following them since their initial announcement and they've evolved the game a ton since. I think the best course of action would be to allow eliminated players to become sharks and attack the remaining players, instead of spectating. This could speed up the game a lot and make the sharks' presence all that more intimidating. They already have awesome game mechanics for shark players so it shouldn't be a huge undertaking (from what I know, which is admittedly very little.)
As far as this hide-and-seek game-mode goes, I think it would be amazing but it should be implemented in Depth itself, not their new "Aquatic Royale" game.
And man, I sure can't wait for Depth VR. Underwater games are my absolute favorite, it's unfortunate that Depth and Subnautica are the only two games that have really shown their potential.
Maybe in some event. Otherwise, even if they create two modes, they would split the community and the game would lose the purpose of BR, because it would not reach the top of players in one match (some of the players would be in another mode), perhaps leading the game to be like Fractured Lands, with a great proposal (i liked), but with matches between 10 to 15 (maximum and rarely 20 players).
Last Tide for me, which has Depth, brings a very interesting proposal and probably I go buy (I love BR games), but if LT bring shark mode, that is in events, not to harm the life of this game and bring dynamism to LT, eventually.
But maybe they could prevent this with some form of anti-idle system, or maybe once there were a certain number of players then player sharks would be enabled for say.. the last 50 or 25 players, and maybe they add a reward of some sort for getting withing a certain bracket, like ranking up or something, and the earlier you die, the less you get.
In summary, I think that they could perhaps find a way to better prevent suicide to become a shark, If you so badly want to be a shark, just play regular depth rather than drain the competition from this gamemode, the purpose that players sharks would serve is to make the gameplay more fast and intense, not just to be a shark.
this like he said It would take away a lot of the competitiveness of the battle royale.
Or people could just play Depth.
There is ALREADY a diver vs shark pvp game, it's called depth, go play that, this is a diver v diver battle royale game.
