It's not an FPS, but it's got lots of similarities when it comes to gameplay and planning/strategy
This one's a bit more tactical and slower paced than Gunfire Reborn, but I'm a fan of both. Slasher's Keep is also similar, but in a fantasy setting with more melee.
At least, finish the game before considering Mooncrash is my advice.
But, it in no way has the crafting, nor the choice of where to go, nor some things following you like in FTL. You will basically just be adding weapons, adding weapon switch slots from just 2 to more, adding armor, and a few other things.
So if you like ancient Doom like combat, but with a rogue lite feel, Bunker Punks should be very cheap on sale.
It is no way as much game, but it may flow easier. Graphics for Bunker Punks is lower tier, combat has no lean, and although the gameplay can be hard, most of it comes to learning the enemies and how to play in the ancient Doom or Wolfenstein 3D way. Which I suppose would also be similar to the various Painkiller or Serious Sam experiences but without the great graphics or story.
Prodeus is by far one of the best retro inspired FPS games that has come out. I had way more fun playing through the campaign missions they've released thus far than I did playing the more recent reboot Doom/Wolf games.
On top of that, there is community made content directly within the game to download and play. Prodeus comes with a powerful mission editor and they've already hosted community map contests, so there is a bunch of high quality stuff on there already too.
Prodeus is like the "Little Big Planet" of shooters.
There is also multiplayer co-op, but its still in beta.
