It hasn't affected the ability to play the game, but it is still a glitch. I believe the developers are looking into it....
Hi there! We recently pushed out an update that fixed the missing Warlock cover on the shelf. For the illustrations in the book you may need to re-download them by going to the Book Menu in the Options and selecting either Color or Classic.
Wow, I didn't know that feature was there - was not really obvious that I could delete/redownload images with that option.
That fixed the images inside the book. Unfortunately, the cover is still missing :( You mentioned an update to the app itself for that, but I have the latest version so you might want to recheck to make sure that your update is working as intended. Seems like a bug is still there to me.
Also, the game doesn't seem to remember my character image in the Options menu - it frequently changes back to a male portrait whenever I go into the Options menu.
Yay!
Boo! This is very odd as our update appeared to fix this for other users that were having this issue, and you're the first player we've encountered that are still having this issue. Any other players reading this and having the same issue?
I'm wondering if you're not deleting the folder properly before re-installation? Either way, please send us your logs and we'll have a quick look. Instructions on how to do this can be found in this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/856880/discussions/0/3092263995636823885/
I just tested this across multiple books and didn't appear to have this issue. I was able to change the character image and it remembered it from book to book. Could you outline the steps you are taking when changing the image, and at what point it flips back to the first (male) portrait?
OH, I have to delete app-data folder too. Just as a suggestion, but maybe it would be a good idea to have the app clean itself up so the user doesn't have to do this? :)
1. Load up app
2. Click Options
3. Select "Player"
4. Select first female portrait (right arrow twice)
5. Quit
6. Load up app
7. Click Options
8. Select "Player"
9. Notice Male portrait is selected. It remembers the name just fine, but not the portrait.
Great! Thanks for that. I've been able to recreate this bug now so will add to our bug fix list for the future.
I have this exact issue. Uninstall, re-install, re-download images. Nothing works. The cover of "The Warlock of Firetop Mountain" is still missing. :/
Did you delete the Fighting Fantasy Classics folder in: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Tin Man Games before re-installing?
Like I said before, is it not possible for the app itself to do its own cleanup so people don't even have to be aware of this?
Unfortunately, at the moment, the app has no way of differentiating a buggy version and working version of the folder that contains the image data, and adding functionality to automatically delete folders outside of Steam's uninstalling process comes with its own risks. We may eventually implement such feature, but for now we prefer to manually guide players through the process.
Ah. No I did not. I missed that part. It's OK now. Thanks!
Awesome! Great to hear.
Missing Cover Art
1) Uninstall Fighting Fantasy Classics from your Steam library
2) Delete the Fighting Fantasy Classics folder in the following directory:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Tin Man Games
(You may need to turn on 'hidden files' if you cannot see an AppData folder. This can be done in Windows Explorer by ticking Hidden Items in the View menu)
3) Re-install Fighting Fantasy Classics
Missing Book Illustrations
1) Enter the book as normal
2) Click on the Options icon in the bottom bar
3) Select the Book tab
4) In the Visuals section click on either Color or Classic depending on what illustrations that book supports. The game will then prompt you to download the images.
