Local Multiplayer not working

When I press the attack button and I choose the character for player 2, it doesn't work, it says to press the attack button even when I've done it. How do I fix this?

You need to press the attack button on the second player's controller. Check your key bindings if you're unsure which controller input you have assigned to the second player.
