If you like the original Superfighters A LOT, and want more maps, weapons, and in general, everything it may be for you. But there is currently no career mode (there is, but it is kind of hard to find and very unorganized), and don't get it just for multiplayer, because the servers are pretty bad. But if you just want to play with a friend online or by yourself and love it, then go for it. It doesn't go on sale very often, and if it does it doesn't go below 5 dollars.

those cheapskates are mad that the beta was for free, read my review, its the best of the best (intense fighting till death like in a movie, simple controls but hard to MASTER)
Citrus Aug 17, 2019 @ 9:34am
I would not say simple controls.

Idk to what games you are used to, but for me these are logical controls
It worth buying, but only if you're playing with friends. Otherwise it's hell
I'm playing this game for 5-6 years, and sometimes i'm still play it, because it's really fun ;)

I have also been playing the game for around 5 years and have played the original Newgrounds version thoughout my early teen years. I received a free copy from the devs and moderate the community forum, plus another website that revolves around custom-made SFD content (mentioned later in this post); I am highly biased and you should take my words with a very large grain of salt.

With that said, if you were to ask me whether I actually like the game after all these years, I would definitely say yes.

I'd be willing to spend money on a successor to the classic Flash Superfighters any day any way. If you were into the insane Hollywoodian action that is diving out of windows and shooting full-auto at explosive barrels from behind unstable cover back then, I'd say try Superfighters Deluxe now. The gameplay loop, although not very rewarding in itself, is very satisfying to experience and later on master. I bought a few copies for my friends to play at their leisure because I like the game very much and want other people to try it too.

SFD is built on a new engine that is optimized to run better than its Flash game predecessor. That was the first deciding factor for me; the 30 FPS limit of the Flash engine is a no-go for me. Then, I felt few of the most important additions to the game (other than online multiplayer!) were the new weapons and items.

The melee and movement systems have been optimized and given a few new moves to allow you to counter and out-maneuver your opponents with greater ease. The inventory and item-dropping systems have been optimized too. SFD introduced a new control scheme which, as opposed to SF, allowed you to kick and punch seperately, aim and shoot seperately, pick up weapons properly and more. Generally, SFD allowed far greater control over your character and has given players more tools to deal with various situations accordingly.

There are many new Survival and Versus maps; old ones can be downloaded from the SFDMaps archive[sfdmaps.at.ua] and played through the new game on Steam. There are 3 short campaigns, 3 sets of about 10 challenges of varying difficulty, a map editor and a built-in script editor to occupy you while you're not playing.

The bots are as capable as they were in the previous game, if not more so; I agree with the other posters saying multiplayer mode is a bit empty currently, but I am sure you will not be disappointed once you find one regular server to play on or even manage to host your own (many people do). All it takes is a couple of friends, if not just one, to have a jolly good time playing against eachother. If you don't find real players, bots are always the way to go. I have played Versus mode against Bot opponents almost exclusively after I received the game on this platform and have not gotten bored after ~100 hours of playtime.

I wrote a (very long!) post about all the new additions in Superfighters Deluxe here[mythologicinteractiveforums.com]. Feel free to read through it. Regardless, I'd say get the game. Buy it on sale if you're not so sure. My opinion isn't worth more than the other posters but the game is very dear to my heart and I am able to see its competitive potential. The devs made it pay-to-play because they put a lot of effort into the title and the posters crying about the "free" version going paid will never truly appreciate the fact.

Don't think you can do multiplayer with cracked games, and multiplayer is like the main part of Superfighters Deluxe, sooo.
No, you can play multiplayer
