What is the intended feeling of progression?
I know skills and itemization will be tweaked, but hard for us to report when things seem wrong if we don't know what the intention is.

That being said, I did 0 research, so maybe this has already been addressed and I apologize if that is the case.

As a level 58 Wizard I can get crushed by 2 level 48 Champions or a champion and 2 normal enemies, especially if they can stun me.

I can freeze block (which doesn't help that much against ice resistance enemies who usually include bears that stun), 1 heal and 1 shield whose cooldown is a minute. The shield barely survives long and the heal is fantastic but a 1min CD is way too long for it to be super beneficial in the scenarios above. It is great under normal circumstances though.

There are other skills that can help slow down the enemies but they don't do much damage and the slow isn't that long. It says 16 seconds but it doesn't seem to be that long.

My gear I have mostly purple and green but still some yellows.

What is the intended progression for a level 58 Wizard? Should I be able to kill 2 48 Champions? Level 50 bosses? Is it normal I have to be like 10-12 levels higher than the bosses to survive?

Agreed, but I'm sure a lot of people like myself are just waiting for features to be fleshed out before pouring their time into the game. Talents, in particular, may be interesting enough to draw me in

I'll add my two cents. I've invested 90 hours into one character, a warrior. I am level 93 and #4 on the warrior leaderboard. Since level 50 i've played exclusively with a group, even though there is such a small community i group with the same 4 or 5 people. There has been very little sense of proggression. Even though my gear has gotten better my character didnt really get stronger, only dealing between 800-1500 dps depending on resistances. The game isnt particularly hard so all dungeons consist of spamming the same abilities over and over with no thought or strategy required. After 90 hours I can safely say, i've seen what the game has to offer and leaves alot to be desired. I feel the only thing to do is grind just for the sake of grinding, you can only do that for so long before you get bored.

If you're gonna solo, I'd recommend a monk. I haven't played in awhile, but I soloed all the way through nightmare difficulty in solo-offline. The class has a great balance between damage and tankiness.

Wizard is a class that deals high area damage in parties with a tank, I wouldn't recommend it for solo play. A class like monk would certainly perform a lot better in solo play with comparable equipment.

Same thing pretty much with a monk. I was doing like 800-1200 at level 50 with a monk before nightmare and hell mode were even released, and at the end of nightmare mode I was only doing maybe 1000-1500 dps average. Enemy stat increases largely countered the improvements made in damage by using higher tier weapons.

Also, at the end of nightmare mode, I was using the same gear in 2/3rds of the slots that I was using in normal mode, armor and rings in particular. Almost no major gear improvements except for the weapon. I was playing solo-offline though.

What I was waiting on was the skill tree’s but I am playing my biggest problem is the group loot, I get better drops solo or you sometimes get a drop you think great I have got that purple or green weapon etc I was looking for in some cases if you are lvl 30 you have more chance of getting a level 15 at worst level 9. It makes farming even longer than normal and that has never been my strongpoint I end up losing interest fast even in games like Everquest.

It’s a game in progress hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Offline it’s no fun it’s meant to be a group online game, even with the better solo drops I prefer to group with other players.
