Super/GT Spoilers?
I watched DBZ as a kid, as I'm sure a lot of us did. But I've never seen GT or Super, I think I may have seen one 'movie' but that was so long ago I don't really remember anything about it.

I'm aware that some of the DLC here involves characters from outside of Z specifically and was wondering if anyone who has seen GT and Super could say if it's safe to play them now, or if I should bite the bullet and watch GT and Super first?

Cheers.

You don't have to watch any of those series regarding spoilers.
First, Dragon Ball GT is not involved in this game at all (no character, no transformation,etc.).
And it's very unlikely that it will ever be involved.

Dragon Ball Super on the other hand is part of the game (as a DLC) but as far as I can tell it only covers one specific movie (I think it was Frieza's Resurrection or something like that). That's it. So I'd say you can play the whole game, it's safe.

(Personal opinion: Dragon Ball Super is garbage and totally overhyped, it's nothing but a cashcow. And lorewise it's a joke. Only my opinion but you might want to find out for yourself.)

Thanks very much. I might go ahead and just play it then, if it piques my interest I'll watch that movie and maybe some of Super.

Cheers.

The base game is pretty much a playable version of the DBZ series. The DLC adds some stuff from Super. Super is definitely worth watching if you are a fan. GT is pretty much shunned by the majority of fans. I, however, enjoyed some of it. Not nearly as much as DB, DBZ, and Super. There are also more movies (not the hollywood crap) made to go along with the original series'. These movies don't follow along with the series' though so you can watch them whenever. There is a guide somewhere, if you Google, on the viewing order of EVERYTHING. I've collected everything I could find on Amazon on DVD. I have a set of 4 movies for DB and 3 sets totaling 13 movies for DBZ. Also, give Super a chance. I'm glad I did. I was going to avoid it because of GT scarring me for life and people telling me it wasn't any good. I caught some episodes one day and ended up ordering the 10 DVDs of it that I found on Amazon the next day. LOL. Good luck my friend. If you are interested, I can name off the movies, but a quick Google search should point you in the right direction. I can't remember the exact name of it, but the movie with Broly sticks out in my mind as memorable.

GT isn't "canon" - the original author had nothing to do with GT. It was only made because the publisher wanted to do something with this famous IP, while Toriyama was pretty much done with DB (Hell, he didn't even want to do DBZ).

So GT isn't in the game.

As for Super - it does features some mechanics and characters from the "Battle of Gods" movie and a Frieza movie. But it doesn't follow the storyline of Super.

Ty bjthedeejay and SomeDuder as well.

I'm about halfway through rewatching DBZ again right now, after that I might watch the first few Super movies, whichever ones are the sort of 'catch up' ones. And then I'll play the Kakarot DLC. Probably on Steam but maybe on Xbone or PS.
