Is "all over the place" for you and that it's bad?
I don't count the flight height in Combat as a real input since it's not needed at all and even that is just R3+Left Analog Stick
Sure they could have just made the combat be "Press A and go afk".
attack is B
Dodge is A
dont know what you mean by not needed from those weird slash blast attacks I was getting during the vegeta vs goku fight..I didnt even know how to move up and down in combat ...game should have added a manual input system for controllers. maybe this is only good for people who are right handed gamers or something.
Oh, right. I always think A is at the bottom on the XBox gamepad, don't know why.
Actually the very first battle you're getting told how to move up and down in Combat. And those slashing moves that are spinning are easy dodged with 2 dodges or you can just use a Ki-Wave like Kame Hame Ha to destroy them.
The issue I got with the shoulder buttons for flight control in battle is evasion, when you gotta evade in certain ways it becomes harder to tell if you are locked into position when a trigger is held.
I think what they could do is use shortcut functions with a single bumper/trigger button with multiple face buttons for more options:
Like L1 + O button = List of Melee attacks is shown. Then Any face button to choose said attack.
The game runs slowmo in battle anyways, so it makes sense to allow this functionality.
Also, the D-PAD is generally underused... All directional button is used for items...
You could move the targeting function to Left and Right Dpad, Item selection on Down Dpad, and Support Selection on Up Dpad.
This frees up the R1 button, and the Right stick, allowing you to use more movement based controls like dodging with it maybe?
Holding R1 for instance can be used to focus flight perpendicular to the target, and without is fighting on a 'flat' level to the world, by using the Left stick.
Right stick is for altitude in battle by raising or lowering your altitude level maybe? This frees up the R2 trigger as well.
I really what went up in the designer's mind to mess with the controller like this.
A it is at the bottom ...B is on the right, X on the left ,Y on the top =.= .... why you saying the controls are fine sir?!!!
I swear, ppl need to 1) Lern2Play and 2) STOP trying to play this like Xenoverse or BT.
This game plays like its OWN DAMN GAME, not 'others'. If you want others, go play others. This game actually makes Breaking/Stunning an opponent feel EXTREMELY rewarding. Noobs who keep screaming they get their combos etc interrupted don't realize you NEVER go for a full combo outside of a Break/Stun.
The aim of the combat is to whittle down your opponen's Stun bar. Pretend you're playing Street Fighter 5 or what not. You dart in and use special moves with big stun damage, land a few hits here and there while they are in 'red charge' then back the hell out quickly out of dodge... learn what their various charging auras mean and keep laying on the pressure until you finally Stun them, THEN you go for your full combo as it won't get interrupted once stunned, cancel into Super move then for the ultimate OOOOOOOOO feels.
