Anything that threatens this nostalgia is grounds for astute backlash, hence why you see a lot of people that criticize the game come under attack and quality of the game is generally ignored or seen through rose colored glasses.

I'm one of these nostalgic people, and I'm disgusted by the result, they really made a good job marketing the game because I was all excited, but final product... let's say "mediocre" is actually a better ranking than this game deserves.
Controls are ♥♥♥♥.
Fighting has some good but it's clunky as hell and gets boring after you find out it has no RPG elementss
Story mode... cutscenes don't have any music and dialogues are absurd(they even miss some key moments and it doesn't have the same impact the manga/anime does).
I mean they managed to do these things in older games, but they can't do something alike or better in 2020?
It's Pathetic.
Care to show me some decent criticism that isn't just calling this game "trash" "not worth $60" "orb simulator."
I've yet to find any that actually have a logical discussion about the games faults rather than just "game trash not worth 60 overpriced."
--- The minigames are kinda bland and the open-world is empty, but there are others that say it's not really a big deal. For some people who don't accept the mediocre on triple A titles it does matter and shows how lazy this was made. Even Cotton city had more interaction too it.
--- There's a lot of attention to detail missing due to cell shading+realistic models and it doesn't work well with the game since a lot of the models are designed to look realistic with a paint of cell shade added on, because of this there's a level of detail that's missing if you compare it to other games where the models aren't suppose to look realistic. Seriously, just idle and stare at Goku's neck, it looks really weird. Luckily though, most people won't realize this since it's covered up with more shiny special effects.
--- There may be plenty to do, but those activities are so empty and pointless, perhaps back in the shenmue age where QTE was a new concept this would be fine, but most activities are just simple minigames with + 2% to attack or such.
Honestly this should be a 30$ or less due to the multitude of problems and lack of quality,
If you want more criticism, it's an easy google search away.

But you're going to 100% this game Sachi, so why does it matter?
I thank
for his post, because frankly I didn't even want to go through the trouble of putting an actual argument.
If you like the game, good for you man, seriously like I said it's not a bad game, but it's really far from the quality standard you would expect for what they marketed and a brand title like this.
Besides like I said, how can the controls be so bad and downgraded over a game, as bad as, Xenoverse?
At least in Xenoverse walking, running, juming, flying it was just intuitive and precise.
Here it's always a nightmare the controls change from field to battle mode and the camera is like going back to N64/PS1 era.
Like I said, and it's just my feeling, but in all honesty I had more fun playing Legacy of Goku 2 or Attack of the Saiyans (which was an actual RPG) than this game.
You don't even need to do anything but keep through the main quests and you still level up/unlock all you need, it's a joke, there is barely any character building, why even bother?
And "exploring" what? Skill balls locations?
What a joke.
I'm giving it a bad review if it doesn't get better after Frieza saga.
The game will be around 90% on steam for the same reasons Xenoverse 1 and 2 are around 90% on steam.
It delivers the minimum to trigger nostalgia.
It's a fun casual game that is meant for the fanbase that's invested in the franchise. That's seriously it.
What does make me curious is that while there sure are bad parts graphically, there are also beautiful parts graphically that I haven't seen before in such a big dbz game. The explosions in the cutscenes are absolutely beautiful and there are some really amazing parts and/or shots.
And the next person bringing up FighterZ i'll slap them. It's an entire different ballgame because they spend literal months on one character design. It cannot be compared due to the scope.
Because this makes you sound more credible. I'll say this to everyone who dislikes the game, make a review say what you want to say and then get on with your lives. Stop bothering people who actually like the game and use the steam forums to discuss with likeminded fellows.
And congrats to the o.p on contradicting your own post like the true intellectual you are by saying "If you like the game, good for you man", if its good for us then why make a post sharing your criticisms? I don't recall anyone asking for your opinion to begin with. I'd love to know what your thought process was when making this post but clearly you weren't thinking and just wanted to start sh*t like all these other troglodytes.
I've stopped reading here, no need to trouble myself reading the rest of this crap.
Who said we are "mad", or are against people enjoying this game?
I just find it weird it gets reviewed positively even though it hardly meets any standards from past DBZ games.
You could qualify the game as many things, but it's not a RPG.
RPG = you build your character.
There are no features as such in this game, it's just go from A to B, (you don't even need to do any other quests but the main story and even so gain enough to unlock skills and level) and your character gets stronger as the story unfold.
That's about it.
What other activity is there? Oh yes... collecting colorful balls and stupid racing... very fun and certainly seems like an RPG now, after all we all played a lot more RPG games where you collect field items(coins) than adventure games, right?
Are you on the development team? The amount of salt you have about negative opinions about this game and the number of topics I see you defense force posting in kinda makes it seems like you might be. Plus, that's pretty much the only reason that makes sense for you to be spending this much time defending this game instead of playing it.
Honestly, it is mediocre. BUT, it's fun. and it's better than Bandai-Namco's usual fare. Steam's review system kind of sucks. It's not even really a review system. It's really "do you recommend this game". There is no score. So it's either, would you enjoy this game, or would you not. Nothing about the system implies quality or levels of quality. It's just do you like this game enough to tell people about it.
