Barrel Roll?

Sometimes the cricle of orbs is too big and you have to stop to slowly get all of them...

I think i remember seeing footage of Goku doing a barrel rol to get those orbs...

Am i missremembering it? or...?

You're correct, pressing Y while flying will do a barrel roll that allows you to pick up a bigger radius. You can't roll while boosting though, you need to be flying regular speed.
