Also, build up your battle-related communities with badges that give the highest bonus (also level up these badges).
Before a boss fight eat something with your characters to get some extra bonus and have full health.
Use the strongest KI attacks after:
- you stunned a boss
- he used a strong KI attack
- you punched him 2-3 times
Never use strong attacks, moreover, get the f*** out of the close proximity of the boss, when he is charging a big bada skill. Go as far as you can and spam dodge to one side.
Get some senzu beans and add them to the quick items slot.
Always level up your skill tree and if you are within 2-3 lvls of the recommended lvl to get a new one, get it! Sometimes you need to try it more than once, but the new skill unlocks further skill upgrades.
Powerful ki strikes (final flash, kamehameha and the likes) can be countered with similar attack and if timed correctly, a special action starts when you have to press X rapidly and if you do it faster than you opponent, your ki strike will succeed and will do even higher damage.
Normal strikes can be dodged, or if the dodge is timed correctly and you have enough ki, you will teleport behind the opponent and will smash him from behind. I dont remember the combo, I think you need to press the dodge and the defend buttons, but its mostly muscle memory for me. :)
Bosses' special attacks cannot be countered or nullified. You have to play along with that and spam dodge. Radizt's and Kid Buu's special attacks are quite annoying, but you can teleport backwards and you can leave the area of effect.
I can't really say what you're necessarily doing wrong without gameplay but I've never encountered a fight that felt unfair or bs. Also there is some depth to the combo system, just not all that much. That much I understand but if your complaint is that the game is too hard, complaining that the combos aren't complex enough seems a tad asinine all due respect. Regardless, like I said, there are ways to get around everything the enemies can do. I.E, Saibaman's assault claw can be canceled with a single basic ki blast, all of the basic mobs from the first two arcs' blast volleys can be easily evaded by dodging from left to right or by tapping dodge repeatedly and moving to one side ect. Bosses have similar albeit less obvious or crippling weaknesses such as their vulnerability post-surge or for some more "specific" examples, Android 20's beam pans towards you so if you boost-dash to the side by holding down dodge, you can stop after his beam slows down and fire a few ki blasts at him in-between his attacks to optimize damage. Or the slightly overused assault rush attack by some basic fodder mobs, cell, vegeta and zarbon can be easily punished by dodging backwards outside of the range of their kicks and firing a point-blank ki blast super. Also you can get past the constant hyperarmor by using physical moves with high guard break and taking the character ugprades that increase your guard break capabilities. You probably know this but the physical supers will chip away pretty heavily at the enemy's stun meter. If you empty their stun meter, you break their guard and all your combos and supers do more damage and have cinematic finishers. Gohan is probably the best at doing this considering more than half of his unlocked supers are physical but Vegeta can do it really easily once he unlocks Infinity Breaker and Goku can do it decently after getting Dragon Hammer Fist. But again, the game gives you every resource to be powerful and the enemies all have openings and punishable abilities. The combat is a bit more nuanced than you might be giving it credit for.
