Buildable Bertha
Hi, really enjoying the game, but not being able to build Bertha is a great downside for me so i'd like to ask for the option of building them in random missions and other kinds ideally.
I wouldnt care if it invalidates highscore and the likes, it's just good fun to bomb the creeper to smithereens with them.
I mostly like to use them to cut down on the endgame grind when you've already won and just need to keep pushing back the creeper.
While rockets and bombers help with that it's just not the same without good ol Bertha

You would have to edit the attributes for a Bertha in the model editor and make it buildable and specify which tab is goes on to. You can then save/export that and it'd be less work to re-import it afterwards.

This you can do - easily.

Open a mission that has the Bertha.
Click Shift-E to open the editor, c
click on the Green "Edit" button in the lower right.
Click on "Mods" tab.
Open the CPACK manager and export the Bertha CPACK

Now on any mission you'd like Bertha's,

Follow the above steps but IMPORT the CPACK.

Thanks for the help so far, but unless i'm missing something this just let's me spawn in ready Build units.
Is there a way to add them to the side tab as a unit i build like the others and pay resources for?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Got it all working now, thanks a lot!

For the audience here, was it easy or hard? :)
Like to know your opinion on it.

Pretty easy. Can I ask though, is there a way to open the package manager or model editor without first going into a random level and doing the Shift-E thing?

The package manager is built into the editor, unfortunately. The path to it is shorter if you directly go into the map editor, but to get packages from someone else's mission, you have to have the game and then open the editor to pull the CPACK out.

Once you know what to look for it's pretty simple, the amount of different tabs and options needs a bit getting used to just because there are a lot.

I would prefer to be able to mod the game on a global basis as opposed to per level like it is now but at least we get to do this stuff at all.

I think one problem with allowing it globally would be that it invalidates things like people speedrunning specific missions, custom map designers in Colonies, Span Experiments, etc. making maps to their specifications - anything that applies *everywhere* would upset the balance they are trying to make.

I was looking forward to use Bertha (the airship) in the daily and in custom missions. I find it a bit frustrating that it is not there. The way mentioned here is way to complicated to just do it.

Why not have another balancing? kind of: It cost so much resources, that if must be worth it to build (otherles you wouldn't spend so much on this unit)

Mark V maps can include the Bertha and Airship. It's an option when you generate a map.

Edit, also, you responded to a very old post. In game updates after that original post, the Bertha and Airship has been packaged so they can be added by mapmakers in a relatively simple manner. (one click for each).
