Someone please contact the developers, i had a awesome dream last night about Katamari Damacy
Believe it or not but Most of my good dreams are just about me playing levels in games that don't exist, and i actually remember most of them in detail.

Like last night i dreamt that i was playing a awesome underwater level in katamari damacy.
I was collecting bubbles, shells, then so over to sea creatures like crabs, fishs, sharks etc, then it ended in me crushing some underwater roman ruins before i woke up.

Anyway later on today i figure that that is actually a pretty clever idea for a level in Katamari Damacy, so i figure that i should mention it somewhere.

For a past look, they did a underwater level it appears with almost the same stuff you said but with more.

In Katamari Forever, they have a level from the RoboKing with the level being titled as: "Make a Star 5 - Underwater".

I am not sure if Katamari Forever would be your best go for playing an actual underwater level with the original katamari, but it appears that'll be the closest to what you'll get to what you're seeming to say.

I hope this was information that'd be of use...?

Not sure...?

That sounds awesome. The developers probably wouldn't do something like that for this game (it's a port of a Playstation 2 title), but maybe if they make another Katamari game they could do something like that.

"Today, you'll be rolling in the ocean. I'd like you to make a katamari of at least 70m"

They could theme a bunch of theme levels like that... mountain, jungle, farm, office building... it would be a refreshing change-up from the staple setting the series seems to fixate on.

They've made 8 games in this series:

Katamari Damacy (PS2, PC port) *
We Love Katamari (PS2)
Me and My Katamari (PSP)
Beautiful Katamari (XBox 360) *
I Love Katamari (Phone, pulled in 2018)
Katamari Forever (PS3)
Katamari Amore (Phone)
Touch My Katamari (Playstation Vita)

In the lot of them, though, the scenery seems to be consistent. Roll around a city picking up stuff. Many of these games apparently even reuse the stages (I've only played Damacy and Beautiful Katamari, so I'm going off what I could find online).

All said, I hope your idea gets to somebody who can influence design choices, because it sounds great.

A Katamari game with Steam Workshop integration could be an amazing thing. People creating objects for the game, others creating levels or worlds with in-game goals, maybe sharing music inspired by the series? I think I'd really like that.
