Why is everybody complaining about this being a perfect port?
Is a bug free, no paywall re-release of a good game not enough for you? Why are you complaining that they didn't delay the game by many months, adding a possibly "tacked on feeling" set of extra content? Are you people forgetting the dozens of crappy remakes these old games get? Why complain when you've got a perfectly good port ready to play forever until steam shuts down and the world ends? Imaging getting a million dollars and complaining that you didn't get a million and one dollars. Sheesh

I think this is great. Namco didn't know how popular the Katamari series still was, this was really just a bit of a test to see if people wanted it. Luckily, they did the best they could to make a good port, and didn't do anything weird to mess it up.

Going by the sales this game has, we're probably going to get more Katamari ports in the future. It's simply good business sense.

That's my position exactly. Can't wait till "We Love" gets ported. But what I want to know is why people are complaining about it.

Biggest complaint I've seen is the fact you can't change the resolution or go to full screen until you finish the tutorial, and that's just a one time thing.

I think what happened was people were expecting more modern mechanics, like jumping, more levels, etc when this is literally just an HD port of the original.

Game is good, but it would be really nice to have options like ultrawide support. The game also has performance problems even on beefy machines. As far as extra content goes I more or less agree, but there are some simple things they could have done like having an infinite for every level or having cousins in single player. All in all I'm glad we got something, but the port does feel a little low effort.

The only legitimate complaint is the framerate lock.
Volt Sep 7, 2019 @ 4:06pm
I dont see the performance issues. Im playing on high FPS nearly constantly on windowed mode.

My issue with this game so far is mostly that the charge n roll skill is just impossible to use properly on a PS4 controller, and how more often than not you get "stuck" on an unavoidable angle or pothole. And I think the latter happened in the original as well, so...cant fault em for sticking true to the original.

Admittedly I got this on a sale, but even then I dont regret buying this game. You know what I regret? FF8 "remastered". Bought it, played it, asked for a refund as fast as I could. Saw this game on sale and bought this instead.

Honestly, after the trash that is FF8:R, this is a breath of fresh air.

Amazing game, my only complaint is they've never heard of a volume slider in their lives.
Hahaha, the soundtrack is amazing, but yeah, way too loud on default.
Volt Sep 8, 2019 @ 8:43am
oh god yes, the default sound killed my hearing the first time. That should not have been THAT loud.

Having the game auto-pause whenever you tab out or go to a second screen is somewhat of an annoyance too. But once again, nothing too extreme.

No I mean the controls suck, and I don't think anyone is complaining about Katamari requiring 'skill'. The 'alternative' control set would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that left/right and up/down are the wrong way around.
Also Dark Souls isn't a 'punishing' game, it's just pattern recognition. You can be a complete dunce and still get through it. Monkeys can recognize simple patterns too. Games don't sell that well when they're difficult.
