Katamari Damacy REROLL (PC/Switch) - Differences from the PS2 Original
I wanted to dedicate a thread to help collect and note the differences between REROLL and the original PS2 version. Appreciate any other insight / things you all picked up on in this version!

Katamari Damacy REROLL PC/Switch vs. Katamari Damacy PS2

Upgrades & Additions
  • Remastered in 1080p resolution versus the PS2 version's 480p resolution
  • Re-rendered in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio versus the PS2 version's 4:3 aspect ratio
  • Achievements (Steam version)
  • Joy-Con motion controls (Switch version)
  • Free demo (Switch version)

Removed Content
  • English voice tracks / dialogue is completely removed and replaced with the original Japanese voice tracks, most likely due to legal / licensing issues. (PC Mod for English voiceovers is available)
  • The track "WANDA WANDA", composed by Yu Miyake, has been removed and no longer plays in "Make a Star 1" and is not listed in the Moon Memorial. "You Are Smart" by Akitaka Tohyama plays in "Make a Star 1" instead. The explanation for this could possibly be due to the samples used in the track. Composer Miyake has noted that the "WANDA WANDA" sounds were inspired by the classic tokusatsu series Ultra Seven. There could be legality / licensing issues in the event the samples were taken directly from the TV show and edited for the music track. This is based on assumption and deductive reasoning. UPDATE: User snerck has found that the track is still located in the game data with the file name "b21_tyutorial2" and I have personally discovered "WANDA WANDA" DOES still play after finishing a 2-player versus round in the Switch version.

Other noticeable differences
  • During loading screens where The King of All Cosmos rattles off random items, the screen will freeze for a moment before loading in the level (Switch version; uncertain if this occurs on PC as well)
  • The King doesn't rattle off random items, it just goes (after level intro) straight to "sending things to Earth". (PC Version)

Interested in seeing what else everyone has picked up on!

Was it Katamari Damacy or We Love Katamari where the King would laser your ass when you failed a level? Ah I miss that

In the final cutscene The Prince, King and Queen are all referred by different names than in the ps2 version, in reroll they are referred to as "Prince of Ouji", "King of Ousama", and "Queen of Ouhi"

I have heard that the controls don’t feel the same between pc and ps2, and somehow the ps2 controls feel much better. Has anyone else found this to be the case?
