PC controls
How does this game control if you don't have a controller?

You hold down multiple buttons like you would with a controller, and you most likely will need to use both hands. For example, you hold down W and U to go foward. It's a little weird doing it with a keyboard, I'd strongly suggest getting a controller for this game for that reason. I'm sure you could get used to the keyboard controls after a few levels, but it definitely doesn't feel as good as a controller.

There is an option for easier controls on keyboard, so W moves foward, D moves right, etc but more advanced movements can still be strange.

It's pretty awful.

I highly recommend a controller with analog sticks.

I am stuck at the first part where I think it wants me to assign keyboard commands, but all I can get it to assign is rotate left and right, and they aren't the keys I actually want to go there. Nothing else that I press on the keyboard seems to have any effect.

Keyboard works very well.

I ended up plugging a controller in, but if you spend some time in the tutorial level and just roll around for a while the keyboard starts to make logical sense. Mostly.

I'm stuck at the same thing... W and S just go left and right... nothing else I press does anything... Oh, and I don't have analog controllers... I don't have a console.

Edit: so you have to press W and I at the same time to roll forward.... this is the most confusing control setup i've seen...

This game was made to be played with analog sticks. Even the best most optimal keyboard solution is going to be bad.

It's not THAT complicated, in theory at least. So, there's two sets of direcional keys, one is WASD, the other is... UHJK? IJKL? Doesn't matter, you have two. Now, the important thing to comprehend here is that we have to imagine each set of keys as the Prince's "hands", the left one is the left hand and the right one is the right hand, just like with a controller and its analog sticks. So, only playing with WASD is the same as pushing/pulling the katamari only on the left side, and it basically doesn't go anywhere. Using both "hands", you can push and pull the katamari in any direction, turn it in place faster, rev it up to boost forward and some other advanced moves I can't remember at the moment. I can imagine, however, doing the rev being a pain on a keyboard, so just stick with the controller anyway.
