Beta21 and mods
This hasn't really been discussed here but it has been a big topic on the unofficial discord. While b21 has brought some great improvements it has penalised a lot of mods, like the MotoGP and SBK mods for example. Some of them are quite affected. There are a couple bikes that seemingly have escaped most of the fallout. The general feeling is, the closer the bikes are to real world data the less they are affected. Of course even this is up for debate.

The two bikes that seem to have escaped are Tom's BSSP R6 and Zonta's R1M. Both mods are known to have been created with real world data, for example Zonta's R1M is based on his actual practice bike for his Moto2 campaign. (You can find them at https://gpb-mods.com/)

PiBoSo has stated he is investigating possible steering issues which are affecting a lot of mods. So we might see an update, or it might be that the mods need updating. Different tracks affect the bikes too, around Victoria even the M2 2018 is fast, but take it Jerez etc and it's not so settled. RBR T2 is a nightmare on most bikes as another example.

Fingers crossed it is all resolved soon.

Thanks for the update onearembandit , hope to see the fix soon on the other hand im really enjoying SBK bikes takes alot of time setting up and getting the right feel but for me the BSSP R6 is harder to ride since BSB series has no electronics on their bikes. Ill def try out Zontas R1M do you have any setup recommendations ?

Ha nah I'm not fast enough to have worthwhile set ups to share. Often I'll just firm up compression and rebound settings (for example on the stock M2) or change gearing but when it comes to changes to rake, swingarm pivot, steering offset etc that's not really an area I've got into. The changes I made to the M2 got me down from a 1:33 to a 1:31.2 at Victoria, but as you can see I'm well off the pace.

(bear in mind the dates lap times were set as different beta versions have had changes made to physics/tyres/etc)

Thanks for the Info, I kind of wondered how the mods would react to the new update/build. Will try the R1M, thanks although I am a noob but really enjoy this sim.

Thanks for the hint. Can't get the R1M working though: no entry in the bikes list of the sim, can't open the pkz file ( no valid archive ). Do there exist another version somewhere other than the one linked on the gpb-mods site (mega-nz link) ?

I have both bikes working...

The R1M has a folder as this: Yamaha_YZF-R1M_2021/paints In --> Documents/PiBoSo/GP Bikes/mods/bikes. And a file as: Yamaha_YZF-R1M_2021.pkz In --> Documents/PiBoSo/GP Bikes/mods/bikes. The rest of folders In their usual location.

The R1M should show up In --> Racing Modified 1000cc. category In the sim.

There has been a small update today but no change log by PiBoSo. Any Idea If this updated or fix has fixed the mods Issue, which from what I understand has to do with the front end of the bikes? Sorry I am not on Discord...

No need to open the pkz (and you can't on this mod, it's encrypted), just place the pkz into your normal mods folder.

Nothing showing up on my steam account nor any discussion in the discord. If I hear anything I'll post it up though.

Hey man, thanks for that. Yeah I ride in FPV but with VR. Some people argue that VR isn't the best way to get ultra quick lap times, idk but it sure is the most immersive way!

Glad to hear you're enjoying the R6, Laguna is a great track. I've spoken to one of the best known mod creators recently and he assures me that PiBoSo is working on fixing the issues found in Beta21 so hopefully soon we will be back to having a lot more mods that are usable. The game is far from perfect of course but every little step forward is good.

I'm not online in the game much due to ping (I'm in New Zealand, great country, fast domestic internet but too far away from European servers) but occasionally hop on Mohze's servers that are in America (I get ping of around 200 on those). Currently riding the BSSP R6 and R1M. If you see 'oab1000' online that's me.
