Meh, I have 106% Super Meat Boy on the Switch. I can take it. I love me a good challenge as long as it's fair.
EDIT: I have also played and beaten DKC1. Fantastic game as well.
I was fairly disappointed with the first Yooka Laylee, but I love 2D platformer games even more.
A good 2D platformer needs to have fluid and fast gameplay.
Also the platforms and ennemies needs to be placed carefully, so that a player can speed run and use those, without slowing down.
That way the ennemies can be used as some kind of platforms to speed your progression instead of being obstacles, if the player is fast and skilled enough.
Is it the case in this game ?
Can’t say since I am quite the opposite of a speed runner (I like to take things slow and easy and not pace myself too much).
Jumping on enemies is one of my small nitpicks with the game. Rather than hold the button down when you jump on an enemy to jump higher, you have to time the button press to get the extra boost. I don’t like this that much, but fortunately the game only requires this in a few instances and you get used to it.
I can see why some people may not like Impossible Lair, especially the Lair itself, but this game has been basically perfect to my tastes.

Amazing game, 9.5/10. I have 3 main points of critique.
1. Some bugs. Mostly visual, but there was one time where the game said, "Screw it" and then just rescued the bee for me despite me being a screen away from it (I was doing a challenge past the bee for a coin). I was kind of pissed at first but it's funny in hindsight.
2. Too many useless tonics. I think that tonics that exist just for fun is fine, but it feels like that most of them fall into this category. Not a huge deal, but it made a lot of the tonics I found feel disappointing.
3. The dynamic loading of assets causes the camera to occasionally stutter, and the dynamic loading itself isn't hidden enough (I have seen some objects literally pop in on screen, especially in the overworld). It's not enough to impact gameplay but it can be slightly annoying, makes the game feel less polished.
Overall, loved this game to death, and it's officially my new favorite game of all time. I was thinking doing a no tonic run soon.
