So just a blatant rip off of overcooked?
In what i can see its just trying to cash in on OverCookeds success, the only new mechanic i can find is that you can anger guests.... but even that does not seem like much. I have not played it so can someone tell me what this game is doing different, if anything, because it looks even less polished than OC.

Yes thats all it is.. a blatant rip off of Overcooked.

Or it could be a game that is similar to Overcooked in looks, but shares more commonalities with games like Diner Dash or Order Up! than overcooked.

*You prep up the food (try to prep as much as you can to ultimatly save time)
--- More a Diner Dash/Order Up! Mechanic then an OC mechanic there

*You have to fufill orders before the timer runs out on the customers patience
---Overcooked, Order Up! and Diner Dash have this, and well without it.. you can just take your time like most of the local resturants do round here.

*You earn money, that you have to use to upgrade your Kitchen, Diner, and even purchase new recipies
--- More like Diner Dash and Order Up! there.

*You can play this solo, or with friends.
---A bit like Overcooked, although OC is very hard solo in the later stages

*This is just a "simple diner"
---Similar to Diner Dash and again Order Up!, you are in charge of a "real style" resturant, OC you are trying to prep food in mad cap situations (like on an iceberg, on an errupting volcano, or even in space, this is just a simple Kitchen with Diner

*You earn stars to help progress through the game, with challenges that unlock new items and perks to purchase.
---Again Diner dash and you guessed it.. Order Up! has this, OC just has a star rating system to help unlock the next level.

*It has "cutesy characters"
--- Jup, this can be seen as a direct comparrison to OC, although Order Up, had more comic characters but you could consider them quite similar..

basically long story short, you can see where the inspiration lies in this game, and Overcooked may have been a driving point, but it is still closer to that of Order Up! and Diner Dash then OC.

It's way better. It's not just a party game, you actually have to manage the restaurant (clean tables, take orders, etc..).

Thanks, this is what I came to this forum looking for. I was hoping it wouldnt be in a troll post...
I mean even from the video (hich I didnt even watch all of tbh) it was clear it wasnt like Overcooked in a lot of ways. It got referred to me because I like Overcooked, what the issue is here besides them being similar is a bit beyond me. Like you stated overcooked is madcap hijinx.

Just bought the game based on your comment. Tyty.

I do recommend a controller for best results. And hope you like it.

I have 3 or 4 :P
And I do love it, my partner is off overseas atm, so I dont want to get too into it. I did the first dozen or so days and unlocked a bunch of stuff though, and this is def a different beast. There is room for both these games, and I say that as a fan of Overcooked. This game takes a similar concept and scratches totally different itches.

For the record, making games similar to other games is how genres are founded. I welcome games of this 'Overcooked-like' trope, as my wife and I enjoyed Overcooked and Diner bros both and for similar reasons... but it's difficult to say they're close enough to be doing the same thing once you've played them both. Kinda like the (every FPS is a doom-clone) argument. Props to the dev for taking two formulas and making a solid game.

Agreed, there are many games out there that are technicly clones just done differently. Some are well made and you can tell that care was taken into them. And others, well they are the obvious cash ins of a popular series. How many Minecraft clones are there?

And again, we have Dragon Quest builders, from the outside looks just like another Minecraft clone, but really it isnt, as it does have a story focus and objectives to make a living town for people to live in. Again taken a concept made it their own.

I will end with.

Not once in Overcooked did I have to impress a food critic in order to progress (I did in Order Up!)
