I've been getting stat increases from combat (beat enemies with throws. throw power goes up. beat enemies with kicks, kick power goes up. etc.). I'd also like to know if there is another way though.
Does hitting the bags do anything? I spent a few hours (of in-game time) hitting the one in my house, but I didn't notice any increase.
You have to jump near the bars / equipment to use them. Then it's just hold jump, let go, repeat until you can't do it anymore. I don't think you can use the swing for anything.
And for the punching bag, just punch it.
And of course you can learn new various moves on trainings from NPC.
How'd you get the mechanic to train you?
You know the path East (right) from the school? Past the bus stop you'll find a path that leads north (up) to the train tracks. Cross the tracks, that's the forest. You'll want to go east, then down a flight of stairs, then east under the overpass and keep going east 'til you find the junkyard. The mechanic's there in the daylight hours.
get urself knocked out at the area with the stairs to the mechanic, and then the mechanic will come to rescue u. a small cutscene will triggered and u can train with him on the next day. u can learn moves from judo master too. u need to go to the gym and workout every single day and try to talk to judo master. he'll train u when ure buffed enough
Where is the Area I need to get knocked out? Before I go down the stairs or on the same level as the Junkyard?
yeah, keep talking to the guy in the gym. he'll ask for 30,000 for fees at first, but if u keep talking to him everyday, he'll let u use the gym equipment. train everyday and u'll get +25 hp each day. keep training on the gym and go to the judo class and try to talk to the judo master. he'll train u when ure ready.
yes before u go down the stairs. if theres no one spawning there, exit the area and come again until they spawn. get ur ass kicked, and the mechanic will come to save u.
