Which one to get next: Cothon or Titan?
So after enjoying the Eagle Prospector quite a bit, I'm looking to buy a new ship. Is there a reason to prefer the Cothon over the Titan except for the lower price? I mean I have the money for the Titan.

different ships, different experiences. I like Titan more, doesn't mean you won't like Cothon instead. As I see it, TItan is more straightforward mining behemoth, slow and chunky, relying on cargo containers, automated mining equipment and drones to collect ore chunks on mass. Cothon is about flying sideways and swallowing whole ringroids without cracking them in smaller bits.
Just try them both, at any point of time you can sell one ship, get all your money back and buy another.

You are mixing up Cothon with OCP, OCP is the one eating whole asteroids while Cothon is the mining ship with EMP protection and(usually) variable internal storage.

But yeah I would get a Titan if there is enough money to buy and outfit it with 3-4 Haul drones + MPU+ everything else you need for it. Its a great mining ship and wont take long before it starts to turn a profit.

Cothon is more or less a smaller less competent version of the Titan imo.

Sooner or later I try them all anyway. I probably go for the Titan first. I don't want to fire any one my 6 crew or have half of them sitting at the station. That's also a small disadvantage of the Cothon. It has only 3 seats.

Yeah, you are right, man, my bad. So much for my 60 hours in this game)).

Probably only reason I have almost learned the ship names is from repeatedly going over the achievements, for some reason I want to 100% this game so I often check that I am using the 'right' ship ;)

I wound say look for yourself if you want to do longer or shorter dives. With K225 you can fit 4 or 5 monocontaines, drones, 2 pulse lasers and that cargo that can print drones, and really go out for few hours. I have such setup - 2 drones, 4 containers, 2 pulse lasers and I just make myself some tea, set cruise speed to 10ms and fly straight for quite a while.

Cotton is smaller, makes sense to fit with 90% efficency production module, not nearly as much storage as K225, so the dives are much shorter. I spent some time with it, but now i dont really like it for the truster setup, it was less than ok with the "triple main engine" mod, and regular versions are really meh for me now. I think my K255 is actually more maneuverable :-)

Cotton with a big scoop is funny, and there is a version with some crazy "adaptive\configurable" cargo hold, but i never tried that one.

Also note that full K225 setup if around 5mil, and Cotton is ~2.5mil.

Personally, OCP's my fav. You can reliably get around by scanning asteroids to determine yields and from there decide whether to break them up to avoid getting iron or just eat the entire thing. I can get 300k in about 15 minutes through this method while not even needing mining tools to break them up - though I will use the gungnir for ornery anarchists.

Don't underestimate the long term benefits of "happy" crew. The Peacock (Eagle variant) and the OCP will keep your crew smiling all day and all night.
