1. You can check if there is an outstanding bounty on people (Not stations) who contact you.
Really the most useful place to do this is just at the edge of the ring. The ring edge is like a singles bar for Ringas. As people come up to chat you have an option to look them up and demand they pay any outstanding bounties (You keep half)
2. You get to participate on patrols (running after pirates) or bounty hunters will protect you when there is no one to chase (Assuming you don't report to do the patrol).
3. You can ask any bounty hunter for the current drop point if you don't already know it.
i've been trying to get the damn licence for a good few hours and i'm losing my patience
You are probably already close as long as you didn't do something to piss them off earlier.
now i know you don't have to be in your combat ship to get a vilci meetup spot but i put so many hours into trying to get this damn licence it's not even funny. today i was mining and got one of these meetups, then wanted to go there directly from the enchelada station but there was no one there. so i went back to the station and wanted to then first go to the edge of the ring and to the meetup from there but it was already gone. now i have to go mining for another 3 hours to get the next meetup ..... just f*ck off, devs
There was related fix published last week. The ship at the drop point should wait for you 30 days now, that should be more than enough time to handle any bounty business.
i didn't check the timer on it but i think by trying to go there directly i triggered the spawn but then i couldn't find them.
edit: patched on may 12 and declared as "up to date"
If you get to the correct drop point BBW actually comes to you to tell you stand clear, so getting there are finding nothing sounds like your astrogator missed the target by a wide enough margin that the BBW didn't sense you.
If you find a station or what ever and look it up on the astrogator panel a new contact should be visible for 120 days, if your astrgators a pro. What are you seeing?
when i first went there it was directly from the station. you can't pick it as destination when you launch from station so i just put my target on top of the marker and hoped for the best. i never had the opportunity to actually select the meet up spot as destination.
when i tried to select it after i went there from the station on the first try i couldn't select it either, presumably because i was too close or because the spawn was already triggered if that's even a possibility.
and because i mostly fly the cothon i don't have an astrogator. only geologist, pilot and mechanic. i never had a problem of that sort until now though
The mechanics function is less important unless you are prone to taking damage.
Which you might be if you are using a Colthon for bounty hunting. You would do better to trade up to a Eagle Prospector if you want to fight. You can replace one of the done slots with repair drones and get better results than a mechanic.
How can i get to participate on patrols? Do i have to do some specific thing, go to some specific place or is it just by a random approach from bounty hunters?
