Is it related to LiS 2?

Is the story of Captain Spirit related to the story of Life Is Strange 2? Should I finish Captain Spirit before I start playing LiS 2? Thanks :)

You don't need to play it at all. But.. it's a good episode and it is related to LiS 2. How big this relationship is, is something that nobody knows at the moment, because Chris (Captain Spirit) doesn't appeared in the first episode of LiS 2. We will probably see him in episode 2.

This free episode gives you background information and introduces the character of Chris properly. But i don't know how important that is for LiS 2.
