What is Square's reasoning behind this? I don't mind, but I'm just curious.

It's just a short demo, meant to create interest in the upcoming game. What better way to do that than with something free?

And it's free too, because many people have concerns about LiS2 beeing without Max & Chloe.
So they offered a free episode for testing, i guess.

Still bored me to death... Prolly cause its just the intro, however if i had to decide on purchasing or leaving life is strange 2 based on this experience alone i would definitely pass... Having played LiS1 i will buy it, however ill wait for a discount.

It's a good way to spread among more players, and increase LIS 2 sales. In fact, you can buy LIS 2 from Captain Spirit main menu. Let's say that it's like a playable trailer of the future LIS 2.

It sounds like you don't know what a demo is.

A demo is a section of gameplay displaying the mechanics and systems present. There is nothing that says a demo has to have a section of that game in it. There are demos out there that have unique content.
