Is this game basically an asian Dauntless?
Is it just "do this mission, kill the boss, reward" over and over again?

Kind of? The game focuses more on PvP, but for fashion / actual gear, PvE is just that: Kill the boss, get better against them, and hope that 5% drop chance in Grand Chase gets blessed by RNJesus.
PvE can be a little dull here and there due to this, but it doesn't hurt to learn damaging combos in PvE while reaping rewards.

Yeah, but progression is complete ♥♥♥♥ and almost nothing changes in the process, you will grind at most like 6 same bosses for an eternity because drop chances are 5% at best. Also there is no balance, mage will deal 80% of damage if you're playing melee

it's actually balanced dude , the game have specific roles , a slayer will ALWAYS do more damage than a breaker , the sword is a breaker it's more effective against the guard and have better defence while the slayer like the mage deal more damage on life while having a low defence , the principe of the game is knowing when and how alterning between slayer and breaker style to deal effectively with your enemies and also make a correct teamplay
