MG34 vs MG42?
Not interested in the history of the weapons, i just want to know about in game, is their any reason to pick one over the other, apart for aesthetics?

The MG42 was much easier mass produced with stamped parts and it had very quick change barrels and a very high rate of fire. The american M60 was based in many ways off of the MG42 design.

If you're experienced, then you may be happy with the extremely high firerate of the MG42. If not, then go with the easier to control MG34

34 Has lower rate of fire, making it more controllable, so in game would be my pick. They both have the same accuracy in terms of individual rounds hitting and and the same size of ammo boxes.
Well, statistically the MG42 was powerful enough to stop a charging Rhino in seconds (And possibly dismember you but i'm not too sure on this, might just be people making ♥♥♥♥ up) and has an extremely high rate of fire. Probably one of the deadliest weapons to ever be introduced into the entire war. Could tear up a squad of infantry in seconds and it must have been hell to be supressed by one. (And possibly dismember you but i'm not too sure on this, might just be people making ♥♥♥♥ up)

The MG34 was the MG42's little brother. Less of a fire rate and stopping power but i hear that the 34 was more reliable than the 42?. Though i'm not too sure on this.

Depends on your preference really in real life but in the game, the 42 would probably be your better choice if they're going off of real life statistics. Hard to control in long bursts but one hell of a weapon, you'll ♥♥♥♥ up anyone on the receiving end unless they have good cover between your position and them.

They have the same amount of stopping power, if you want to talk irl the 42 was more reliable in the mud and grit than the 34 not the other way round, in game its just the fire rate that makes a difference, and irl the high fire rate as scary as it was, was more of a hinderence the the guys using it, theres a reason todays MGs fire at 600-800 Rounds per minute rather than a ludicrous 1200, (the 34 fires at 800).
