Who is th3 r3ck0ning? [SPOILERS]

Beat the game 2 days ago, lowkey obsessing over it and will be returning to finish my archive bit by bit. But looking at everything in the chat logs between MerchantSoft staff and in the m1nx domain, I still can't figure out who this person is. At first I wondered if it was Adrian, but Adrian has enough power to stop things rather than leave a fragmented crumb trail. Is there anything implicit in Hypnospace to reveal the leaker's identity? If not, perhaps you have a theory to share? :)

There IS a member of MerchantSoft and the m1nx, and there is enough information to see what. Other than that I don't see what you mean by those chat logs, remind me? Adrian is the least tech savvy person in the story, he can barely figure out how to run a page on his own, there's no way he's any part of m1nx.

The first part of leaks from th3 r3ck0ning have screencaps of conversations between Dylan and other members of MerchantSoft staff including Adrian and Sam. In the m1nx domain, I'm referring to the private forum established for M1nx members. After looking at those again post-game, I don't feel closer to the truth of their identity.

re3koning_inc uses the program CCSPY to view chat logs that aren't his. It's not a leak from inside the house. 90s hypnospace security is pretty awful.

But sure, lets look for evidence about identities.

dumpy_1 - Runs the dumpster. He's the one who gave Dylan a username and pass for m1nx
re3koning_inc - This guy uses a fake headband ID, and is clearly not a member of merchantsoft based on how he talks about it. Made dreamtoolz and is definitely the strongest hacker/programmer in m1nx.
80085 - Dylan
jezz0 - Came up with beefbrain and counciler ronnie. I guess the most "troll" member of m1nx. He is an intern at MerchantSoft.
slushmouth - Eduardo Dassum, really into music. Didn't post in m1nx anywhere we see (we only know he's in it because he is in tim's password file)
ConnieConnects - Connie Turner. Not in tim's passwords probably because she joined later. Her page doesn't seem like someone who would be able to figure out how to get into m1nx, but she did anyway.

Based on how much re3koning seems to hate MerchantSoft, I don't think he had a public page, so he's just no one else. Who knows, though?

It's definitely Roddy Wall. Re3koning describes himself as a "resistance leader" on the r3v3lation page. Roddy's screen name is Ringleader Roddy. The 2nd sight project was hidden in a SAMwich file, developed in part by... Roddy Wall! (which could be a coincidence but still worth noting) Its also known that he worked on Axxelerator. The island that re3koning puts the medical files on is called Axxelerator Island. To me, it seems that he was using the re3koning persona to voice his frustrations with Merchantsoft. I believe that he felt that as Roddy Wall, he wouldn't be taken seriously. Re3koning's big end game findings also coincide with Roddy Leaving the company.

I also believe it is Roddy, because Roddy died and if he hadn't, re3koning would have taken the information to the authorities upon the mindcrash. They knew it was unsafe and didn't want to protect merchantsoft. i'm still not really certain why Sam or the player character never testified to help T1m.. I definitely knew it wasn't his virus when the crash happened after downloading Outlaw (doubly so when the first time I tested it, it damaged my hardware), and I was also probably the only one who knew for 100% certain what the virus was supposed to do, how harmless it was or that I'd turned it off already.
We also know that Roddy was a good programmer, part of merchantsoft but unhappy, and that his motive was that he was suspicious of how they were treating him and his friend's zones, but certainly didn't expect deaths so he didn't do anything more before it happened.

..Though, i'm a bit unsure since Dylan said he was loyal, and re3koning wasn't, though it could be interpreted in the "he tried to put me straight" kind of way..

Roddy seems somewhat plausible but what I dont get is why he would spend NYE on Hyponospace ignoring his own warning. As Dylans best friend he must have surely been aware of his plans to deploy Outlaw with the Y2K update and the game being prone to frying headbands. It's heavily implied he's still involved with Dylans business even though he was officially let go after the Axxelerator case. So his reason to be on Hypnospace on NYE must have been to either prevent the mindcrash from happening or to finish up his case against Merchantsoft hmm. Either way re3koning seems way too invested in the situation to just let Dylan and Adrian slip away so something must have definitely happened to him during or following the mindcrash.

re3koning also called Roddy a "useless nerd", which is not something Roddy would say to anyone let alone himself. Venting frustration about Merchantsoft is one thing but making fun of Adrian for being calmed down by Artie, antagonizing Gill over the Axxelerator Island music, and of course "Wah wah the page is messed up i can't see it", it's all too mean to be Roddy.
