Your Choices Don't Matter (and why that's good for Hypnospace Outlaw)

Most games have a very linear story where your choices might matter on the small scale, but can't affect the larger story. This isn't a bad thing, and for Hypnospace Outlaw I think it's a good thing. You aren't the hero, you aren't the protagonist, you are just one person and even with your power as an Enforcer you are still constrained by the system you are within. All Cops Are Bastards, because as long as they are cops the nature of their jobs will not let them be anything else. In this essay, I will not elaborate further because this isn't fifth grade and you all get my point.

It's also way easier to program.

actually, there's one choice that matters, but the game doesn't even super bring attention to that choice existing.

the choice: you can have people banned off of hypnospace when they have too many infringements.

it doesn't effect the gameplay At All, but.. well, considering what happens, that choice does matter to those people.
