Help with keyboard controls

I managed to finish the first introductory race. Now I am in the town with the 4 shops and when I approach any of them, a prompt comes up with a blank white key. What key is this supposed to be on the keyboard? I also tried connecting my XBOX controller, but the prompt remained a white square and I can't figure out what it's on the controller either.

Any tips? Thanks in advance!

So that key is 'J'.

Thanks for the reply, but the key "J" doesn't work for me there.

Specifically, If I press J while standing in front of the closed garage door, the screen shakes a little and white striped triangles appear in front of the other shops. However, if I press J while standing in front of the other shops, nothing happens beside the screen shaking again.

Does this help to diagnose my problem?

hmmm that is strange I'll send this up to the team to investigate. So if you stand at the arrows you should be able to enter the shops. is that not happening?

OK, I tried smashing the J key repeatedly while walking in front of the shop and managed to enter the last shop to sell these battery cells. After that I also managed to enter the other shops and progress the game from there. So for now the problem is solved :)

hi! i played the game a bit and it does seem that at the start of the game (specifically at the start) the input to enter shops is not responsive. not quite sure what causes it but I had the same issue as the OP. hope this helps!

I don't believe it was your incompetence. I actually experienced the same issue when I first played. I couldn't figure out why nothing worked. Eventually I got in to the store to buy a power cell, and suddenly the other ones worked.
