Hope that helps. If you still can't find it, let me know what operating system you are using and I'll try to get more info for you.
I have tried the solution offered to the OP but it hasn't worked.
I haven't had any other problems with any of the other games in the pack and all work fine.
Also Verified the files and nothing missing.
Tried a fresh install but the same problem occurs.
My O/S is Windows 10 (latest version).
Will try a few other options and will leave you the feedback here.
Have tried both Full screen and window modes, no luck on either.
I just had the problem again and experienced the same issue as you but I did the following to get solitaire working again.
1. uninstall the game from steam library
2. delete the "on hand software" folder from your Windows User folder as mentioned above.
3. restart your computer, then reinstall the game.
Step 3 is important, need to do clean removal and then restart . Simply doing steps 1 and 2 without restarting did not work for me in resolving the issue.
Also can i ask what brand / model video card you are using because i am using nvidia card and within a couple of days of installing video update solitaire broke again so i am wondering if it is video related otherwise it is most likely a reoccuring code bug in the game itself.
Graphics card is Nvid Geforce GTX 1060
I followed your advice in post 4. It works now. Thanks mate for the advice.
