Card Games Mega Collection

game freezes (black screen) after trying to start solitaire
Hello,

Bought this game a week ago and have been playing various solitaires and canasta. been no issues and I set up a profile too.

Today I open game and get to main menu no problem, i click on solitaire and i get a black screen with the hand cursor in the middle, frozen and chewing CPU performance at 13% of my i7 cpu. Only force closing clears the issue. restarting does not solve.
I tried canasta and it worked fine, but have not tried anything else.

I used Steam to uninstall and reinstall game and this does not fix the issue. I notice the profile I created returned after reinstall, hence the uninstall was not comprehensive or clean removal of your software. I suspect perhaps profile data has been corrupted with regards to solitaire.

I checked the Steamapps folder after uninstalling and cannot see your game folder in there so I assume there must other data to keep the profile on record. is it steam cloud? Is it locally stored?

Can you advise where ALL the data created by game is stored or info to allow me to attempt a comprehensive clean removal and then try to install again.

Sorry you are having this problem. We have not experienced this issue before, so I don't have a great solution for you. Maybe removing all save data as you suggest will help. The save data is stored differently depending on OS. For example, on Windows 7 it's in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\On Hand Software\Card Games - Mega Collection.

Hope that helps. If you still can't find it, let me know what operating system you are using and I'll try to get more info for you.

good news, this has fixed the issue, 3 GGI files were found in folder, called Options, Slot0 and slot1.

Same problem here. No matter what type of game I try to play in the solitaire options, game just freezes up.

I have tried the solution offered to the OP but it hasn't worked.

I haven't had any other problems with any of the other games in the pack and all work fine.

Also Verified the files and nothing missing.

Tried a fresh install but the same problem occurs.

My O/S is Windows 10 (latest version).

Will try a few other options and will leave you the feedback here.

Have tried both Full screen and window modes, no luck on either.

Hello Fred,

I just had the problem again and experienced the same issue as you but I did the following to get solitaire working again.

1. uninstall the game from steam library
2. delete the "on hand software" folder from your Windows User folder as mentioned above.
3. restart your computer, then reinstall the game.

Step 3 is important, need to do clean removal and then restart . Simply doing steps 1 and 2 without restarting did not work for me in resolving the issue.

Also can i ask what brand / model video card you are using because i am using nvidia card and within a couple of days of installing video update solitaire broke again so i am wondering if it is video related otherwise it is most likely a reoccuring code bug in the game itself.

Thanks for the Heads up mate. I'll give it a go in the next few days.

Graphics card is Nvid Geforce GTX 1060

no problem, the other question i had was, when playing solitaire were you playing numerous games in very long sessions? I have multiple screens and have solitaire on one while i do stuff on other, i will leave solitaire open at times mid game while i do other stuff andc ome back to it later. I wonder if there is a timer issue or session timer issue that breaks the game by doing this. Will keep observing for now. The silence from devs seems pretty defeaning at this point.

No, it just crashed even after just booting the game up.

I followed your advice in post 4. It works now. Thanks mate for the advice.
